I am posting this because maybe, just maybe somebody will get something from it.

Don't be lazy. Don't be stupid. Don't feel sorry for yourself, in any situation. Most importantly, don't make excuses.

Be proactive. Work hard. Be smart. If necessary, admit defeat and try again.

This goes along with everything. Without any real life example and application, these are just meaningless words you've heard 1000 times. Why do I have the urge to tell you these overused phrases?

I see too many lazy idiots that make excuses and it just makes me mad. If you don't have a job, GO GET ONE. If you are currently unemployed and above the age of 18 you do not have an excuse. Walk into Kroger, and every adjacent employer and apply. Call in, follow up. If you WANT a job, if you WANT to work, you WILL be worked. Don't wait on a result from 1 application and ride on the slim chance of getting a job there. Go everywhere. Show eagerness, professionalism and respect. If you fit into my qualification of 18 and above, need work and have nothing hindering your ability to work (Not in a wheelchair, in which case you could probably still find a job somewhere) then why aren't you working? Give yourself a REAL, legitimate reason of why you aren't earning a paycheck yet. No car to go apply somewhere? Not a good enough excuse. You know people who know people who know people with cars. Would someone that truly needed a job and a paycheck let that be the reason why they can't feed themselves or their family? No. Those people don't have time for the excuses. They WILL get a job. They don't have the choice not to. Discipline yourself. Can you call yourself a man if you make excuses? Do you want to be respected? Or do you want to always have to be stepped on by someone who HAS taken the initiative?

In real life there are people that make excuses and people that don't make them. The people that don't make excuses are the ones that are man enough to admit defeat when they are unsuccessful and work hard to try again until they succeed. You will work under those who don't make excuses. Your boss will not take them, because he/she doesn't make them.

If someone owes you $100 and you ask why you haven't received it, you are looking for an answer that is either A: "I have it an I'm on my way" or B: Something that explains the shear impossibility of having your money back to you. You wouldn't take excuses from someone who owes you money, why give them to yourself or anyone else? If something is just not possible no matter how hard someone were to try to go about it, then that is the only excuse that is acceptable. Otherwise you're just sorry.

If you mess something up at work and your boss says "Did you f*#$ this up?!", what will you get more respect for?
"It wasn't my fault! Bla bla bla bla bla!" Or, "Yes I messed that up unintentionally and it will not happen again. I should have been more aware and/or thought everything out better".

If a cop pulls you over "Why were you going 80 in a 65?"
"Sorry I just have to pee really bad and everyone else was going 80" or "I wasn't paying as much attention as I should to my speedometer"

Admit defeat! That's what your superiors and authorities want! It shows maturity and it shows that you yourself are smart enough to see that what you've done is wrong or needs improvement. Admit defeat to yourself and set a goal of success and achievement. If there is opportunity, take advantage. Learn. Become more than you are. It IS possible by any and all means.

I live it. I gotta preach it. I wouldn't write something like this if it weren't beneficial. I make excuses to myself sometimes without even realizing it. It's a habit that I have to get rid of. Success comes with hard work. People with millions of dollars to retire on have worked for and saved that money for decades. Open an IRA. Save. What's cooler, coilovers for your ride that you wont even want anymore in a of couple years, or hella money to blow when you're older?

I hope this helps someone. I hope someone can take from this and become someone bigger and better than they currently are or would have been.

That is just an example. There are so many more things that being proactive (
serving to prepare for, intervene in, or
    control
    an expected
    occurrence
or situation, especially a negative or difficult one;anticipatory) can do for you. To be proactive is to find a way. Using anything you can to your advantage despite your disadvantages.
