So, it will merge two posts that are not back to back? How is that a double post?

Zippy69

What does it matter? It will merge two consecutive posts (back to back).

It doesnt matter, its just lame. Thanks for the input though.

I don't understand what's so LAME about it.

Care to explain?
If you post consecutively within 30 mins or 3 hours or so, it'll merge the two posts.

Also, please don't post useless things like "one more post" to get your post count up so you can post in certain areas. I will delete those if necessary.

haha damn 240Atlanta, SERIOUS BUSINESS!!!1

This feature is lame because of the way it is implemented, not because of what it does. It doesnt take post context into consideration, looking for content or verifying anything is duplicated. A lot of times ideas are more adequately expressed as two separate posts.

Another scenario is if you post, then someone posts back, you reply, and they delete their post. Your two posts then get merged and make no sense.

At any rate, no worries, and Ill be sure to take this forum more serious from here on out.:lmfao:

Well lets see here. If the person deleted his post, in which you replied to, then your reply doesn't really need to be there anyways now does it? So delete that section back out of your post and your good to go. The feature is there for a reason.

You won't last long with your current attitude. This forum is a privilege.

So this basically says I have to re-read my posts to make sure they are relevant, in case someone decides to delete one? instead of having seperate posts that might give a clue that someone once stood in the middle?

Meh, its not a big deal, just thought I would mention it. Thanks for the info though.

p.s. this is gonna get merged isnt it?? *sigh

when you answer a question... use the question in the answer or use the quote buttons if you are really worried about posts getting deleted...

This isnt a vote, or an attempt to convince anyone of anything. Besides, this thread ended like 3 pages ago...

Ok, you have a valid point. The auto merge is there for a reason but I re evaluated and decided to change the merge time limit to 1 hour. If you post again after one hour it will not merge your posts. Initially when setting up this feature/curse (whichever you prefer) I was unsure how long to make the time limit. Now that the forum is quite a bit busier I think it is reasonable to change...

The 1 hour limit should resolve this problem for you.

*Also, I could have it auto insert a line that says something like

bleh bleh bleh

-------------------------Auto Merged------------------------

new merged post here...

But that might look kinda messy. What do you guys think?

I don't like change! Change is bad! Thats the reason the damn commies are winning!
My pee smells like sugar smacks, but I don't eat sugar smacks! Thats how the government controls you. First it's automerged double posts, and then your pee smells like sugar smacks when you don't eat sugar smacks!!! Arrrrrrrrrrgh!
