Running Hot

My car recenty started running hot. The only symptoms I have is that the thermostat jumps to random temps before stabilizing on the hot temp. It doesn't smoke or drink coolant. The clutch fan works fine and all of the things that should be working are. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

First thing is to check the thermostat and then check the coolant temp sensor.

thats what I thought. where is the coolant temp sensor??

up under the throttle position sensor. Almost directly above the thermostat housing.
