I installed my steering wheel today but didn't find any how-to's for S13. The auto blinker release isn't working and we rigged the horn for a minute but it quit workin... I can fix the horn with some solder and another wire but any tips on the signal thing or know where an existing how-to is?

That is the one i was using to get started... However there is no need to remove the dash in an s13 as it states. It is also very unclear about how one should fix the turn cancel feature in s13's...

Looks like I'll have to figure it out and just write up my own DYI...

+1 for the help...

QUOTE:

I installled a S13 Silvia steering wheel into my '93 240SX and I have no horn now. I've searched and could not find anything on my specific wheel/horn problem. There was one ground wire mounted to the Silvia horn button and I have it screwed in. I have replaced the 10amp fuse in the large fuse block in the engine bay and I am getting a replacement for the big brown horn relay on the small engine bay fuse block but until I get that...any ideas on what else to check? I cannot pass inspection without the horn. Maybe if I just stick my head out the window and yell really loud?!?!

I used to have horn problems w/ my first S13, the horn would sometimes not work at all after the new steering wheel. Turned out to be a bad fuse.

The steering wheel cover has tabs. A small flathead screwdriver helps too (wrap it with a towel so you don't bust anything). But I'd check out the relay and/or fuses first before going thru that ordeal

That is informative... We ran into a problem with the first part of the horn where the little metal rods werent installed and so there was no connection made between the front and rear portions of the steering wheel to make the horn honk. Once we got those in, the horn would honk when you touch the wire to the center of the wheel.

My plan to fix my problem is to clip a wire to the second contact on the horn, leave enough slack so that when you turn the wheel it can rotate many times without coming close to kinking, then solder the other end to the inside of the steering column.
