problem with 240sx read please i need help

i have a 1990 240sx hatch with 197,709 miles and when i drive around and approunch a stop light i push in the clutch and press the brake and the rpms start to drop like normal but mine keep dropping until 200 or 300 rpm while iam still rolling in neutral and sometimes i stall, then when i finally stop they rise slowly to 1100 rpm if the car dont die out, can some one tell me whats wrong with my engine cause i just traded my 2003 ford ranger xlt for this car so this is all i have left to make it to work and back

Have you gone through the car yet? Sounds like a dirty air idle control valve. Wouldn't hurt to replace the plugs wires, cap rotor and all the fluids if you haven't already.

I agree. Check the IAC valve like downshift said and if it's not that check all your other vacuum hoses. Try stopping the car then letting off the brake (only on a flat surface) and take it out of gear so you can let off the clutch and see if the car idles normally. If it does that pretty much guarantees its a bad vacuum line or valve somewhere...

Are you really asking if you should do general maintance to your only car? Really? Theres no such thing as needing $2,200 to fix an S13's suspension. You could replace nearly everything with aftermarket components for that much. Driving around with half your wheels studs broken is pretty dumb too.

FYI, new lugs are about $1.20 a piece from advanced or autozone and only require a couple wrenches and a hammer to install. If you loose a wheel on the highway or anywhere else for that matter you could cause a great deal of damage to yourself and/or others, not to mention cost yourself a lot of money.

If you don't replace things like spark plugs and wires and do regular maintance you will end up with a worthless car that barely or doesn't run and be in the same situation as you were in with your truck. Take care of your car and it will take care of you.

dude you really need to get new wheel studs. btw autozone and advanced carry stock studs but not longer ones. and yeah they're cheap. so go get studs and just go ahead and replace all of them. and just check everything in the engine bay. a vaccume line could have come unplugged or something. and new spark plugs are always a plus =D

you NEED to do gen maintenance on every used car you get..
only because its USED.

and our cars are at minimum 10+ years old!
