Called Dave up on Friday and asked if he could hook me up with help with a brake job for the DD. Of course he could, HE IS DAVE......LOL So met up at Tiger Racing and met Sam Dave etc. Sam and Dave worked their magic and brakes were done in no time and great attention was given to the job as I would have just bolted the stuff on and ran with it. I would expect no less from Tiger Racing and Sam whom did most of the work ( Damn that left rear caliper was siezed....LOL (Dave). Once again thanks to Sam and Dave and Tiger Racing for making me safe out on the road in my DD. Who could only imagine what they can do with your performance machine.

I have been talking with Dave (V-emp) for about two weeks now, and have had nothing but AWESOME help from him. I am planning on completing my swap in about 3 weeks and he has gone above and beyond my expectations! From helping me find parts, to directing me to what mods I should/shouldn't do, to helping me understand what to expect before, during, and after the swap. I'm not a newbie to the S-13, but I am to the swap, and he DEFINATELY is making this dream of mine a reality. I will be posting pics and let everyone know how everything turns out. DAVE IS THE GURU FOR SURE!!! NO ONE ELSE WILL TOUCH MY S-13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ninja:

i ll try my best not to let things happen when i am managing there.
i will try not to take jobs that we cannot commit because we want to go race, and i know its not easy juggling race, boobs and customers.

its not easy, because mechanical failures are not controlled by us, but we can only do precautionary preventions from our racing experiences back to our customer's cars. we hope to suffer all the loses, and you gaining from them.

happy tuning and treat your ladies right.

I should've brought my car to you guys for the swap :(

its ok, as long as you can enjoy your car right now, i am all pleased.
dont matter who else worked on it.

we arent the cheapest around GA, but we get lot of cars back.

after a quote and they leave, then after its done its hooking around town..... it shows back up if the car isnt wrecked.

3 weeks ago, a car that got its original quote from us, came back after two years and 4 shops later, and his car is now pushing 350 whp daily driven. costs him and the other owners a total of probably more than $16k so far just to get there. he paid more from the original quote, but he is happy and wished they could have enjoyed the car without going through all the heart ache in the first place.

we like builds!

we got rid of it end of last year.
its like a fish in a fish bowl when we drive it.

Well, I can't enjoy my car now, the new rear trans seal is leaking like crazy, spewing gear oil everywhere (on my exhaust as well). The car randomly decides not to start (new battery, good grounds, lights dim so you know the starter is pulling juice) I think it goes back to the piss-poor wiring job done on my swap. Trans squeals until the clutch is pushed in. They changed my clutch and re-surfaced the flywheel so I assumed the changed the pilot bushing and TOB, but I guess not, or the squealing is an issue with the fork being installed wrong or messed up. I've put a total of ~8k miles on the car since June of 07 when I got it back from Tophat the second time (I brought it back to let them fix it) ha! Things were still messed up, like an oil pressure sensor leaking badly because it was installed so loosely that you could move it with your pinky. A lot of half-assed work and short-cuts (that I just keep finding) make me not happy. I'll do it myself from now on, even if I have nowhere to do it, no tools to do it with, and no one to help (which is why I brought it to Tophat to begin with). That and they were the only shop that did swaps I knew of at the time, and I hadn't heard anything bad about them beforehand. They are nice people, but not quality in workmanship IMO.

i sorry to hear that. i know they are swamp with work... i ve personally never dealt with them so i have no opinion about them but i do know how a shop is ran and its not easy. sometimes mechanical failure is out of your hands and sometimes its just timing. what we normally do, knowing this is an issue with hard drivers, we do preventative maintenance and tricks to prevent common issues we are aware of, for such old motors/drivetrain and electrical s that are being pushed hard. thats why we have small amounts of customers who pay higher but we havent had a blown motor or horrible issue since day one that we know of.

seems to me, you have minor maintenance work and a few electrical investigation to deal with, which isnt too bad.. get it done and come ride with us! we want you to come drifting/track with us and enjoy your car....

and bring your wife! :)

I will bring the wifey! I know there are maintenance issues, and I can send you a copy of my invoice from them. I talked with them and let them know I wanted a reliable DD and we discussed the things needed for that and they were done. I was also told that the guy who did my wiring Stephen, was his last job for them, bc he screwed it up so bad. Scott told me that he checked everything to make sure it worked, and it did for a time. I know they are swamped, and I'm not trying to be unfair. they said just bring it back and we'll fix, it, well they kept it for 7 weeks the first time and 5 or so weeks the second time. Anyway, I just couldn't drive 100 miles one way for them to fix things that were overlooked bc it was done in haste. At least to me it seems it was done in haste, that explains the cut corners. Anyway, like I said they are great people, but I just think they could have done a better fit and finish job the first time around. If you want more info I can PM it. I don't really have hard feelings and I'll end up bringing it back to them for the A/C hookup (I had a SOHC) once I worry about that.

v-empire
02-28-2008, 08:03 PM
oh no.. .

i dont need info about the swap or about them.
they have been nothing but fair and good with us.

i m glad you have no ill feelings, that should be the way and its mature of you to understand. keeping the cars too long is frustrating.. i understand.
hope you get it fixed and up and running soon.

no nothing bad or personal PM'd just more info about my issues and such and the invoice. I didn't car that it took long, I just wanted it right and there were some unresolved issues after that much time that I didn't think should have happened, like the loose and leaking P/S hose from the reservoir to the pump (there was another, worse leak to, but that stemmed from the SOHC to SR swap P/S issue, not much they could do) and the previously mentioned loose oil pressure sensor. Just a lot of little things like that. It will be fixed soon. in the next few weeks, just have make time to start troubleshooting the electrical and such.
