how much, given a $500 dollar shell, and a $2000 SR, would it cost to build a NOPI certified race car? Just wondering for future reference...

jj, come one.
nopi doesnt build the car, how are they suppose to know?
you need roll cage, specs are in thr rule book.
you cant leak any fluids.
and you need a harness.
battery should be secure
and you need a full fire suit and suppression unit.
you need and external kill switch.
thats pretty much it.. all safety to pass tech inspection.
u can have a 74 whp motor as long as its original drivetrain configuration is not altered by adding axles, removing is ok, then its permited.
u need winshield fluid and cocksammich for lunch.
how much does all that costs?
mastercard.
Just buy this!

It's probably not far off from being ready.

Can I sit in it and get my picture taken whenever it comes back? I'll put on a racing unitard and everything. Then I'll show the pictures to the ladies and tell them "I am a professional race car driver."

Very soon. I'm too poor to afford it right now, but I'm graduating in December, buying a dd, and then the 240 becomes a toy and not my sole means of transportation. :D
gah, i'm such a poser right now.

if your thinking of building a car, i HIGHLY Reccomend making sure you have the driving ability to EARN a liscence.
there were a lot of people in hawaii who made the assumption if you spend the money you can get a liscence. that is not the case.
build a racecar because you want to build it.
cage it because you want to do tandem at local events and have fun.
do NOT build a racecar with no liscence, thats financially irresponsible and just plain stupid, and i dont wanna read the whining if you build it and fail at a qualifier.
do stuff because you want to have fun with it i guess is what im saying.
when is a qualifier?
working on it.

oh hells naw, im making sure i NEED it before i buy/purchase anything
im not gonna take a loan out for a racecar unless its necessary, and i dont feel i am anywhere close of getting to that level
so im just gonna gut my car, get a nice suspension/motor set up, have fun with it, then buy a cage for tandems, i highly doubt i will be able/willing to take it any further. Unfortunately i dont have 347389748 dollars to waste :( :( :(
i was seriously planning on buying the sil80 from sammy, but never got around to getting the money, a lot of dead end deals and such...sucks, would have been perfect
and 2 grand for a NOPI legal racecar that looks AMAZING
was an AMAZING deal
whoever said that sil80 was too pricey was retarded, the cage alone cost that much
if i had the money, that car would be in my garage! :goodjob:
