personally, I have had the passport 8500 Solo S2. in reality most cops are getting smart and either waiting til you are right on them to use either or.. someone with a jammer(laser/ radar) will set yours off if you get close to them. and then you have the lovely grovery stores as well. Also if you do get pulled over and have a radar detector your chance of talking your way out of the ticket will be next to none. Just my opinion though.

aight
radar detectors just tell you when youre SCREWED
saved me from 2 tickets though
was about to accelerate
radar freaked out
didnt accelerate more saw cops halfway down road =D
and one over the hill radar freak out so i slamed the brakes from about 80 to 30 and cop only knew i was doin 30 =D
worth it id say
just dont trust it

Well the radar is good for when you are crusing round on back roads where there isnt any place to sit and use the laser. Since the laser cant be fired through the window of the cop car it is hard to use while moving. The radar will help avoid tickets when the cop is coming the other way and stuff like that. All the the detectors mentioned have a laser detector to, that one is just to let you know you are fucked cas that means you just got tagged...

I heard something interesting from a bike guy that was I was talking to in court today that said that he was chased down on 285 by a police driven busha (not a fucking clue how to spell it)...just fair warning when you try that lol
I'm really pretty good at spotting cops and knowing where they'll be but I'd feel better with one... They do help in certain situations. You just can never rely on them.

valentine one, mounted up high (like above the rear view mirror) to get best reception with remote display FTW!
also... tinted window screw with the reception sometimes.

I need to get one and a jammer. I have to make the Atlanta-Tampa trip about 6-8 times a year and south Georgia is a fuckin snake pit when it comes to cops. Im thinking about the Valentine as well. Every now and then one pops up used in for sale sections for a semi decent price.

setup will cost you around 800-900 uninstalled, i wouldnt recoomend it for a normal 240 or anything... but in the STi it will save your life...
for everyday cars.... passport 9500i or 8500 x50 depending on your budget
