hey guys, just joined up..i've been a member on IA for a month or so..

always been into cars, since most of my friends have nissan's and POS hondas.. so i got tired of the offroading scene, and sold my well built toyota and now im searchin my balls off to find a 240 before spring break.. and im gonna get one..hopefully

i love working on cars/trucks, one of my good friends has a 89 hatch, we swapped in a Ka24de and a manual tranny into and turned it from a pos in the back of someones yard into a good driving, reliable car..over the period of 5 months..

this year i am a junior at South Forsyth high school.. next year is my last year..then more than likely off to basic training in the army

Just one suspension? :) j/k

That sounds like a good plan!! I know my car is slow as hell but with all the suspension mods its so much fun to drive!!!

03-16-2007, 02:53 AM
yea..im thinking about a TEIN suspension now... but ill have to see what my $$ range allows..

but one of my friends put eibach springs, and kyb adjustable shocks on his gf's car, and said it make a HUGE difference so im gonna see how her's drives before i decide

I've got kyb's and eibach's. Its not the lowest drop but it rides really nice. I'm actually planning on going with something stiffer and selling my setup but if you like a nice ride along with handling this setup would be nice...

As for your valves needing adjustment, I would recommend trying engine flush first and switch to full synthetic if you're not using yet. The valves are hydraulic, shouldn't need adjustment so it is more than likely sludge build up. Is it a '93 with a '89-'90 f/b or do you in fact have a KA24E? Single cams seem to be notorious for valve lash. Well, good luck!

sofo259

it is a 93' with a 94' engine with about 70k on the engine.. i heard the valves can rattle like this because of high revs..

thanks, i will def. try that !
one of my friends told me i should try some lucas oil treatment but i didnt really wanna put that in my motor..

there is also a plastic piece inside the timing chain cover that wears out. take it out and that sound will stop

alright, thanks guys !
first im going to do an engine flush then fill it with synthetic.
which is better : 10w30 or 10w40 ?
if thats not it i will do the timing chain guide removal, and hopefully thats it

JDM Steve
03-21-2007, 02:29 AM

Depends, lift the hood and check where the ticking is coming from, either way it doesn't hurt to remove the top timing chain guides because Nissan labeled them unusable.

sofo259
03-21-2007, 11:52 AM
last night we took my valve cover off to figure out what it was, 1 the valves are fine
2 the top timing guide has already been removed, dont know about the other
so there for i will flush my engine, and run synthetic

well the motor finally gave out tonight..
i was going up 400 about 65mph and then BOOM CLANK CLANK CLANK

literally

and a huge oil spill on ga 400 under my car where a rod went right through the oil pan with a few souveniors for me...

ex: some bolt all bent up, part of a piston, and a chunk of the head..

so we got my uncles 30ft trailer, and his F350 to tow it to my house...

now its sitting in my driveway leaking massive amounts of oil before i put it in the garage to do a motor swap.. WOOO HOOO

sofo259
04-07-2007, 02:55 AM
ohh yea, it started up and drove onto the trailer kinda.. while royally raping my exhaust.. so i need to meet a tig welder..

Haha, a guy we did an SR swap for did the same thing. His motor mount was partially blown off. He had a huge hole in his block. And amazingly, he drove it off the trailor and into my garage. Crazy..
