Anyone got one? how do they work? Where do you install them? I need some more details.
its so cold now, id like to reach out my window and start my car up while i get ready, so i can hop in it and turn the heat on :D
i also would like one with keyless entry. my first 240 had it, and it was so awesome.
Thanks 240atl

I got one on my silver car but it was professionally installed.
It's a 2-way Compustar system, has an alarm built into it. One thing you'll need to look for is to make sure the system has a manual transmission bypass. As far as installation, I'm not sure how it gets wired in except for one wire that goes through the firewall gets wired to your #4 injector.
The 2-way feature is when I sent the signal from the module on the keychain and the computer in the car sends back a signal to let the owner know the car has started. I can start my car from 3000 feet away, haha, or about 200 yards if I'm in an aircraft hangar.

If you buy it at best buy they install it for free.
Alarms always suck trying to install by yourself.

Only thing about Best Buy, as far as autostarts, the one in North Dakota didn't do manuals.

Yup, best buys here wont do it either
liability i guess
but all it is i think is an extra wire that you hook to your neutral position switch on the side of the tranny. Just tells the car it is in neutral and is allowed to start. So you could have best buy hook up the alarm and then you run one wire.

^ Exactly. It's only 1 wire, and they won't do it because of liability reasons.

orly? Only one wire? If that's the case then I can move over the remote start I have on my DD to my s13 when the time comes.

Well, another thing to consider, I know with Compustar systems, the autostart 'brain' has to be for a manual model as well.
I dunno about other brands.

yea no shop will do a manual due to liability, you'll have to do ti yourself or get a friend to do it.
again search the forum for an answer, then try other forums, then GOOGLE and if for some reason you still don't know ask.

Well, the thing with the autostart in mine, you have to do several things for it to set after driving.
Hit brakes as you always do when you park.
Go into neutral.
Set e-brake.
*at this point you'll hear an audible click from the brain*
Turn off ignition.
*Car will still be running until you open the door and close it*
To disable the autostart when shutting the car off, you just press and hold the brake pedal until you hear a second click, and then the car shuts off when you turn off the ignition.

how would an autostart and all that owrk when shutting off the car with a turbo timer?

My autostart has a built in turbo timer. You gotta program it in, though.
