Ok, I am looking at getting a bike! Whats a good bike to start out with? And I am small so nothing really heavy or tall.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

zx6rr. its lightweight, has decent suspension from the factory, its a bike that you can learn on and still enjoy later down the road with modifications. we have a zx6rr racebike and it hauls ass.

Isnt 600cc a bit much for a 1st timer? I was thinkin something like 250? or MAYBE 500.

well, you could always buy an old ninja 250... ride the piss out of it and when you drop it just toss it away.

i started on a 600 and i love them. but that was really only because my dad races them and i had pretty good instruction

I agree with the older ninja. It's just like your first car - odds are you are going to wreck it (drop it.)

Does anyone know of someone selling one or a good used bike place to go to? I found a 250 for sale by Georgia Tech but it has 13K on it and my dad (hes had bikes all his life) said that was too many miles for a 250.

let me ask my buddy... He'll probly know a good place. My bet is that youd be better off finding a private seller than going to any kind of dealer. Check craigs list.

I am going with the 250 ninja. I found one on craigslist for $1300 OBO but it has 12,8xx on it. Is that ok for a starter bike?

Good thinking. Go with that, don't listen to the idiots that tell you to learn on a race bike.

Contrary to what most squids (you'll learn that term shortly) think, you don't need all that extra power right now. Hell, 99.9999% of them ride bikes that are wasted on them and can't ride within half of the bikes potential.

Make sure to put some money aside for gear, you'll be glad you did one day.

Its great. Use it to learn how to ride in traffic. Remember, learning to ride is easy, but learning what to watch out for is what you should concentrate on.

And, when you are ready to step up, you'll easily get your money out of that 250.

Thanks for the info. I knew 250 would be a good bike to start with.

Ohh and about the gear, I already have the badass helmet I want!

What kind of bike do you have?

Thanks again

As long as the bike has been taken care of i don't think that would be a problem. Great starter bike... Just make sure you can pick it up from being layed down...

I have a few. 04' GSXR750 (trackbike)
02' SV650S (also a great bike when you're ready to upgrade)
97' TL1000S
96' CBR600F3
96' YZF600R

I went down on the 750 recently though, so Im putting it back together right now. Im so ready to ride it again!

Get you a good fitting jacket, gloves, and some riding boots that protect your ankle. When I see some new gear I want, I always go to one of the big shops to find my size, then buy it on EBay LOL

test out several bikes. find whats comfortable for you and what you can handle. a 500cc bike is not a bad choice. kawasaki ninja 500 is a decent bike i've ridden. I prefer the 06 gsx-r 600.

just gotta find your comfort zone. everyone's starter bike wont be the same
