I think we should have a help section, designated soley for people with problems. The person searches key words of the problem, and if they can not find the answer through extensive searching, they have a place where they can ask the pros (tyler, dave, jj alfano etc.) what to do in that particular situation. Then the mods could lend their expertise (without killing their business) and help solve the simple problem.

Isn't a forum just one big help section anyway?

no.
we already have preset subsections for particular parts of the car.

if anything, we need a "240sx general" section where much of the stuff @ off topic should be. as well as general inquiries about S-chassis cars.

I notice that this site also has more off-topic subjects than 240 technical related. that could be changed with some type of section with only 240 stuff included in it.

The "Technical" section is for this purpose. If you have a problem you are supposed to find the right category and post it in the correct spot. That way when a problem is resolved, those categories can be searched, revealing the answer to someone else's problem.

That is what this site is here for. The off topic banter is just something to keep us all busy when our cars are in working order and while we're at work...

We need to make this site that new members needs to know how to search and do not repeat same topic within a week.

use search button for threads and posts.
and google is your friend. instead of asking how its done,
try a discussion with what you have found, links and research you have done....

it shows you put more initiative in,

rather than, ...oh, my tires are bald.... is it bald? should i change it if its bald? ok, thanks.

oops wrong video

Oh also, if theres just one "help" section, then how in the world is it going to be browsed or searched since its just one lumped pile of threads with no rhyme or reason as to where its posted? I don't see how thats a good idea. Those categories are there for a reason.

Can you find an example of any other forum thats done something similar to what you're suggesting and worked?

i was thinking the same format as technical, but for help only.

where people post questions under the proper category, and people chime in to help. I know personally, I would check that section to see if I could lend a hand in any one's problems. It would be a lot less cluttered and organized imho.

I see what you're saying but I'm trying to figure out if theres a way to make it work without having 10935 different forums as well as multiple places to put things.

The technical section is mostly for questions and such. The writeups and informational stuff is moved over to the DYI section as fast as we can keep up.

^

the only way it would work is to divide it into two major sections: S13 and S14. then branch off that into smaller sections under each of those.

but it would get too complicated. use the search function people. every forum on the planet is set up this way. someone is bound to have asked the question your searching the answer for at some point. and if not...

www.nicoclub.com

i promise you will find it there.

The whole site is a help section...mixed with random posts by carlova78 and everyone else. ;)

I think answer is no...
yeah, search would be better for those who have questions.
If you can't find an answer after searching, go to the designate area for the question.
like some other people say, google, yahoo too before asking. Don't just ask you want this picture or that part.
Have enough experience on other forums, like s15 conversion all day long...

if you cant find it here, search nico, if you cant find it there ask here, if no one replies here, ask nico. but first, google it.

however, i do like the idea of arranging it by chassis model, better yet, i like going by engine model like nico does.
you know, minus the mixing the ka24de and ka24e. pain in the butt to sort through sometimes.

but, diy is where most of the i need help questions are. at least, from what i have seen.
