View Full Version : Interior Suede Wrap
A few of you have seen my dash and interior. If you want your dash, doors, armrest or headliner sueded or anything else in your car send me a PM.
The time that it takes to suede a dash is pretty extensive so I'm going to start the price lower than I probably should... You will need to bring me any piece that you want done out of the car. So if you want your dash done you will need to pull it yourself. I can direct you to simple instructions on how to pull the dash yourself.
Dash - $350
Dash & Glove Box - $375
Door Panels & Arm Rest - $125
Dash, door panels & arm rest - $450 (glove box add $25)
Dash, door panels, arm rest, head liner - $550 (glove box add $25)
Door Panels & Glove Box - $150
Door Panels $100
Arm Rest - $35
Glove Box - $40
Headliner - $200
PM me if you are interested.

hopefully one day i will be able to do this......but color matched to my sexy paint.
How about seats?
I can't do seats yet. I'd need a really good sewing machine. I do plan on attempting it before too long...
can you do BRIGHT PURPLE suede?
I can do whatever suede we find. I may have to order it tho. PM me when you're ready to do it...
how long has the suede wrap been on your door panel? and is it durable?
Its been on my door now for a few weeks. The glue I'm using is very high quality 3M glue so it shouldn't ever come off... It seems pretty durable to me. A little more difficult to keep clean but not that bad...

I have plans for sewing seams with colors into the dash wrap and other things but thats a tad in the future... I will master it before I do it for anyone else but myself...

It's not hard, just be careful, use a heat gun if possible, and go slowly.

ohh, okay well a heat gun would help alot. and yeah slow and steady it should look good.

The dash was pretty difficult to get to look as good as we did. The doors were not extremely difficult but a little tricky because of the way they curve in.

Heat gun helps. Its pretty time consuming... Some people have the hand to do it and some don't...

that thats the only thing i was worried about. but it cant be too hard ill just grab a spare door panel from a junk yard an practice it. but yeah the dash scares me but it looks killer. did you put foam in the door panel? or on the dash? or did you just 3m spray glue it down?

I didn't foam the door panel nor the dash. I just prepped them both correctly and then glued.

12-21-2007, 05:48 PM
when you prepped them you just sanded all the old glue off them and washed it a little? ohh and have you done the headliner yet?

12-21-2007, 05:51 PM
you have to prep it with the right chemicals in order for the thing to last....
and i am sure for flip, he would like to make his money back with all the money, time, chemicals, material spent on his practice to give you guys good professional quality work, before releasing all his dirty little secrets. :)

it's hard as shit to do, by the way.. especially with suede/faux suede. Even the fake suede is $20/yard, and you blow through a LOT of it learning how.

I read about a guy doing his dash and stuff on another car and in order to cut weight, he cut out circles of the dash all over, then wrapped it in suede. You couldn't see at all where he cut holes, and he saved a few ounces! lol.

He's taking weight loss to an extreme. It's a german car, so they're naturally heavy, and it's stripped it down totally. I think he actually ended up saving a few pounds by doing it, b/c the dash was thick and heavy. Seems like with daily use, it might get waves in it or dips. I dunno, I wouldn't want to be the guinea pig. I love the sueded look, or even a faux leather, but I'd really want stitching along the gauge cluster hump and other sharp edges. Any chance of that?

Eventually I plan on trying the stitching but I don't have a sewing machine yet. I want to try my hand at seats as well but again I need a sewing machine... If I get enough jobs maybe I'll be able to afford a sewing machine :).

Awesome service you're providing Flip! Couple buds of mine do it back in NH, and their prices are even higher for friends. Cost of living I guess.
Once I find my S14, I'll definitely have to check into having you do the dash. Unless I find one that has no cracks....

Are you only doing suede? I have no upholestery skills and I'm wanting to get rid of the tweed on my door panels and glove box. I know what I want fabric-wise, and I'm wondering if you're willing to do something other than suede.

Hum. Hadn't thought about it. I'd have to look at it first but I don't think it would be too far off...
Where are you located? Can you do color suade?
I can special order suede upon request. It might be a tad more expensive tho.
so, what's up with the color suede? can we do it or not? higher price?
actually, do you still have the dark grayish color that was in post #63?

The suede in 63 is black. Suede is hard to photograph...
If you have a particular color I can find out a price on it and let you know. I'd need a deposit since I'd have to order it tho. I'm working on a job right now but will be able to take on another one in the next week or so.
well i was hoping you would have black, but thought the gray would do too. do you have enough to wrap my door panels and glove box?

will the wrap show cracks int the dash
As long as the cracks aren't TOO bad I have ways of covering them up so they won't show through. I didn't even do anything to my cracks and they didn't show up at all. Thats the reason I covered mine in the first place...

Ass in the first post I was talking about vinyl. Vinyl stretches when heated and is much easier to work with than suede. Which currently hates me.
