I know it has been said many times about going to them, for all your engine work, tuning needs...
But,
I'm going to say it again!
Today was my first time stopping by there just to talk to them about helping me along with the internals of my RB, and they are one of the most welcoming, and the nicest employee's shop I have ever been too.. I am not going to mention any names of the nonwelcoming ones, but they are in georgia... Anyways, i walked in, and talked to a guy at the front desk, telling him i had a RB and what all i planned to do with it. and he told me about the RB30DETT beast in the back, and so i went back there, and talked to this dude for about 20 minutes about it.. and he was real nice.. i wanted to talk to Ed Senf, about tuning, since he is a beast at it, but i guess he wasnt there.. I know, after my experience in going by and talking to them, that i have found the place that i am going to do business with...
So for all you people looking for a tuning shop, that havent already stopped by Balanced, Look no further...

I saw some pictures of it today on cameron's phone, it is niiice.
the rb30det is an rb30 block mated to a rb20/25de head, then you add a turbo and then you crappy in your pants as stated before. It wasnt ever put into production.

Wikki info
"
Nissan did not produce this engine, but it refers to a turbocharged engine featuring an RB30E block with a twin-cam head conversion. Common hybrid in Australasia using a RB30E bottom end mated to a RB25DE,RB25DET or RB26DETT cylinder head and turbo (RB20DE and DET heads are not used as the bores are different in size; RB30 86.0mm RB20 78.0mm). The RB25DE cylinder head from the R32 Skyline, A31 Cefiro or C33 Laurel can be used, and fits perfectly on (although better valve springs are required to prevent valve float when running any more than stock boost). The RB25DET (from the R33 Skyline or C34 Laurel or Stagea) head is also used, however an external oil feed must be fabricated for the variable cam timing on the RB25DET, and the galleries at the front of the engine do not line up. The variable cam timing may be disconnected altogether.
The fitment of a twin cam head from any of these engines onto a standard compression RB30E bottom end gives an ideal compression ratio for a mild to moderately modified street turbo engine, making the conversion popular amongst those who would otherwise convert their RB30E to a high compression RB30ET using original ET bolt on externals.
Although it has a larger displacement than the RB26DETT, maximum possible horsepower is less, as the RB30 block lacks the RB26 block's internal cast-in bracing, and consequently cannot rev as high due to harmonic issues at ~7500 rpm. To compensate, the RB30DET produces more torque at lower revs. There is also an 'RB30DETT' kit manufactured by OS Giken of Japan, which bolts an extension on top of the RB26 engine block, and fits liners, to give an 86 mm bore x 86 mm stroke. It is available as an assembled short block, containing billet chrome-molybdenum crank, billet chrome-molybdenum H-beam connecting rods, forged pistons, and costs ¥1,500,000.[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_RB_engine#_note-osgiken)"
Also this site has the kit in the rb26 I think looks sick

in another words...... waste of time and money.
lol.
there are other more cost effective options producing similar power band and rev like characteristics and power goals... i guess, just another experimental i want to be different thing.
but its still beastly. :)

guys, its very unique.. after he puts the twin GT35r's on it, it will have 1000whp and, yes there is a reason for it.. cause there is no replacement for displacement.. RB30ET is a POS, yes, but when attached to a 26 head, like this guys, you got your self a armored car, in terms of bulletproofness...
oh and griff, he has a RB26 head btw, and stock AWD tranny..
and no nissan did not make RB30DET's.. they created this engine, and found it to be not really what they wanted, and sold it to Holden like previously stated.. but it the Single cam form..
oh and dave, its not really different, there are a lot of people in the US running RB30's, you just gotta luck up and find one.
and as for bottom end internals, im pretty sure this is what he has, dont quote me but i would guess this...
http://www.spoolimports.com/content/SPECIALS.asp
(Oh, and in the first post i said RB30DET, well i forgot a T.. it is a DETT, right now like i said it's running twin GT30's, but one is screwed, and only producing 7 lbs, so hes only making 400awhp, but soon, hes upgrading to GT35's and looking for 1000awhp!)

Yeah but Rb26 and all that work when you can get a 2J? 2J makes more sense and should cost alot less and is all ready a 3.0L. Rb30 looks like that broken fork doesn't make sense to use it unless you have money to blow or time to waste.
Cameron.
12-13-2007, 07:30 PM
um this dude obviously does have money and time to waste, first he has a legally titled R33 GTR in the states, a 20,000+ project going on, and on top of that he is a Doctor. stop hatin.. what you got..? RB30 is already a 3.0l too... your head dont mean shit about your displacement... wow...
oh also when i said 400awhp, i meant rwhp, as balanced dont have there awd dyno yet..
one more thing, how you figure cost less? if you find me a 2J you can build to 1000hp, and cost real cheap you lmk.. oh and dont go by that BS, wikipedia 1,500,000 yen shit, they never told me he was running a OS giken kit on it... as far as i know hes running either stock or custom manifolds..

What does it matter what I have? All I said is it's nice but not worth the money to me.....I drive a 240 so obvoisly I am poor. But a 2JGTE>RB30. And when he has 1000hp post up the dyno it would be nice to see but what you think he might have and what actually happens are two different things. FYI 1000hp 2J was so 2003 XD
Cameron.
12-13-2007, 07:46 PM
fyi i dont care about fanboy shit, i do my on thing.. yea i know thinking and facts are two different things, but when you got the best tuner in the southeast tuning your car, "Ed Senf" i'm sure he could get 1000hp out of it, and i dont see why not.. were talkin twin GT35R's here.. oppinions are like a holes, and i didnt start this thread to argue with you about your oppinion on a car you dont agree with.. so if you want to talk about it, im jumping up and saying take it to PM's, cause people looking for a good shop to go to dont want to read worthless posts...
kthx..

anywho, sounds cool. to each his own. i personally wouldn't do an rb30, but that doesn't mean you can't or should get shunned if that's your goal for ur car. more power to ya. but a bolt on rb25'll make 400hp with 1 turbo :P LOL just giving u shit.
i've never been to balanced, but i've ordered a "phenolic" (plastic) intake manifold gasket from em that Gizmo (an australian company) makes. it's supposed to help with heat transferring from the head/motor and heatsoaking the intake manifold to keep your charge cooler. i never did a before and after dyno with only that particular mod but that along with the aluminum radiator and my plenum stays much much much cooler. anywho it was hard to find a distributor that could get that part, but balanced was able to.
one of these days in the far far future when i'm tired of drag racing and i decide to make a road course car, i'll have them corner balance it :D
gl with ur goals zenki,

pretty much. but on a serious note, please stop cluttering this thread... this is vendors reviews, not PW off topic...
Dave i wasnt talking about you BTW, and i dont have the RB30 if you were misunderstanding, i have a 25, but maybe thats what you were talking about. I just figured out today that i am going to be able to build my motor, pistons, cams, valves, connecting rods, + a massive Holset HX35/40... is there a record for a S13 with the most hp? let alone RB25, cause with this setup, ill at least be capable (in my mind) of at least 750.. but ill prolly only run 400-500 on the streets, save whatever the max could be for teh dyno/strip

np zenkicam, wasn't tryin to hoar up the thread, just adding my .02. i'd give props to a 1000hp b16 lol
i just gave my friend back his holset hx35. i wouldn't recommend it. it's more of a 30-40psi happy turbo, i wouldn't recommend going passed 20-21psi on pump gas on an rb25, nor 26-27psi on race gas... therefore to be in your turbo choice's efficiency range, think along those lines before you spend the money on the holset. i'm stuck right now inbetween a gt35r, t67, to4Z, and a borg warner turbo...the borg warner turbos are pretty kick ass from what i hear
balanced performance was very professional, and they got me the correct part, promptly =]

he has money to spent. that is what he wants, so sure.... thats his decision. its a cool thing to have and if i would do it if i was in his shoes. because i dont care..... yes.
you can make anything with plenty of whp. 1000whp? no problem. ya got money? sure.
practical? depends....
these people are enthusiast, and that what they love to do... its awesome to do something like that and not worry financially.
but anyways..

Dave does your friend have the HX35 or HX35/40? look here, what i have been seeing is completely different from what you just said, i know, they used to see 40-50psi while on the dodges, but this dude right here has the HX35/40, (hx35 turbine, Hx40 comp wheel) and he hits full boost at 3800 in fourth at 20psi!.. maybe you are talking about the just True HX35? cause this guy has told me waaaayyy different, and he makes 500whp now... heres the video.. he referred me to them on NICO.. heres the Thread also..

hmm thats not a huge grocery list for 500whp, I might be looking for the same type of turbo your going for cam. I like the chinese FMIC lol. To tell you the truth, I havent spent more than 5 minutes researching the turbo aspect of my car. Im not to that point yet, but when I do get there you are relaying all that info your getting now over to me!
Cameron.
12-14-2007, 03:11 AM
RB's dont need anything done to them to get that much, its just that around 500whp you gotta have a realllllly good tune, cause that is about the breaking point for stock internals.. but yea slap a bigger turbo on a 25, get some injectors, and a good tuning system and your good for 500, no question..
to tell you the truth though, there have been KAT guys on nico that have experimented with it, and said it was lag city until around 4200, then you just got 2000 rpms to spare... so its a bit overkill, but with your goals out of a KA, i would recommend the The TO4E/GT30 good to flow around 550hp and hits full boost in the 3300-3500 range
this is really the only place i know to buy one...
its ball bearing too.
http://www.jgycustoms.com/serg20/turbos.htm
at the very bottom..
i just wouldnt reccomend that holset turbo to a KA, cause its basically like the Garrett GT35/40.. just not ball bearing, and not 1200 bucks..
plus the holset is huge..
