The night before Barnesville, I flush out all my fluids (tranny, engine oil, diff oil, and coolant). I even gave it a minor car wash to make it look decent. Wes and his friend sofo stopped by late that night to check out my motor that was for sale (ka24de) and of course, they had to check out my car with the new ca18det motor in it. I popped the hood and of course, took them for a test drive. I think they loved it.
The next morning (the day of barnesville) early, I pack up two extra sets of tires, camping chair, tool box and etc.... My brother wanted to tag along which I was extremely excited about. I could always use a pit crew.
I put in the address in my gps and head on down there. Oh my, what a long drive....
We were first to arrive and noticed that nobody was there. My brother and I got out of the car and walked the track twice to get a feel for the track. We unloaded the car and I was getting ready to be out on the track.
I went to start the car and it started then it happened. It just died like fuel stopped going into my injectors. My brother and I shared the look on eachothers the face for a second. I drive this thing everyday for at least 60 miles and drove it all the way to Barnesville and why the hell is this thing broken now??
By then, all the drivers showed up with their awesome drifting machines while the fate of my baby was to have her hood up the rest of the day.
I worked on my car for 5 hours straight to see what is wrong. Why won't it start. I first thought it was the drop resistor box for the fuel injectors and it partly was. Long story short, I ended up called my buddy Rameze, he's spooled on this board, because i saved his number when I bought my ca18det maf from him.
Rameze was over an hour from me and decided to help me out with this thing. He's extensive knowledge in electrical and mechanical engineering really shows when he does wiring. When he showed up it was around 5 pm. My brother and I was there since 9:30am with a broken car....
Rameze finally arrived and brought extra set of spark plugs, can of starting fluid, and rest of the ignition parts for my entire car.
It was the cam angle sensor!!!! As soon as we decided to check for timing and took the cam angle sensor off, the part where it goes into the cam completely broke off which wasn't sending the right information to my spark plugs which the car won't obviously start. Rameze had an extra one at his house so my dad came with a tow dolly and towed my car to Rameze's house.
We bolted it right in. The car started right up like there was not a problem.... I got it off the tow dolly and drove her home like any other nights.
BIg thanks to Rameze (spooled) for helping a brother out. He's opening a performance shop soon and I recommend each and everyone of you to check this guy out. Incredibly nice guy who is not blinded by money. Also you should see his sleeper corolla in his drive way. I'll give a speak peak of his corolla though... s14 sr20, individual ITB's, roll cage. mmmm...
my what a long post... pictures to come later...
