Alright, so over the past week or so, I've been having some intermittent problems with my hatch.
When I go DOHC in it, I plan on rewiring the majority of the car, but at the same time, I'd at least like for it to be able to start up when I get the motor in.
At first, It was running great, most of the bugs out, then last week, I was leaving my grandmothers house, and it ran great, and the second I got on the road, it sputtered and cut off, and wouldn't fire back up. I assumed Fuel pump of coil. I called my dad, and we pulled it back to my house.
James hooked me up with another coil he knew worked to test, I put it in, no luck. Next day I went out, fire it up, ran for 5 seconds, cut off, fire it again, and ran fine, I went driving. Drove maybe 10 miles to a friends shop to return some tools I borrowed, and on the way back, it was running great, then started to sputter a bit, and as I was turning into 211 from hwy 53, it cut off just like before. Called my dad, and he pulled me home again.
Anyways, Casey and I tried a few things on it, I was getting no fuel this time, and no spark.
I know the coil I put on is good, and I ran direct 12v to both fuel pumps I have, and both are fine. Although, I haven't tried this with them in the car yet, to see if it could just be the wiring to the fuel pump, in that event, I can just hotwire it into the ignition, and eliminate that set of wiring.
I've checked all the fuses, and all I'm left with it possible relay, or even ECU. But I would think that if the ECU was shot, that the engine itself wouldn't turn over, but then again, I'm not too sure if the starter signal runs through the ECU, or direct from the ignition.
My question is, is there a main relay in 240sx's like Honda civic's have? Could it possibly be the ECU?
Any advice would be great, Like I said, I planned on getting an entire SOHC lower harness that goes into the fuse panel(underhood), with a new fuse panel when I do my swap, and just starting fresh, but I'd honestly hate to do that if its just something simple I'm overlooking.
Thanks guys,
-Wes
