ok, so i got my starter and fuel pump going, turns out they werent working because the alternator wasnt grounded. now i dont think that i am getting any spark because the starter is going, but it sounds like none of the cylinders are trying to fire, so im guessing its something with the coil. my question is, does the coil need to be grounded? if so where are the grounds on a ka24e? trying to figure this all out before next sunday if i can, and i dont have the money to take my car to a shop at the moment, although i probably will before then if i can get it to start just so i can make things run better. any help is appreciated. if anyone lives around bartow county and wants to come and help me figure this out on Saturday that would be great, but i would really like to get this thing going. i miss getting to drive it around town and what not.
Thanks,

Cal

Test your spark. Pull a spark plug out and put it in the spark plug wire. Lay that over the frame, or something grounded. Crank the car and have someone look and see if its sparking. Its spark is good. Then move on.

Test fuel. Ka's are easy pull the rail with the injectors on it and crank it over. See if they are firing. If they are, then good. If not, then try swapping them out, or fuel pump isn't on.

If you have spark and fuel, then you either have no compression, or timing is off. Compression test the motor. If compression is good, then your timing is off. Turn crank to TDC. Set dist. Use timing light to check compression. Set to 15* BTDC.

Car should crank.

I just had the coil go out on my hatch as well.
It was weird, I started it, it ran for 40 seconds, I sped out of my grandmothers driveway, then bam! Lucy cut off, and I coasted it into my aunts driveway, haha.
It's embarrassing enough breaking down, but its even worse when its in a family member's yard, and you have on sandals in 40 degree weather.
