Z31/Altima rear brakes behind S13 SE's

Sooo,
I just finished one side of my rear brake upgrade. I used the Z31 caliper brackets and '03 Alrima rear rotors. These are 11.5", mush bigger thatn stock!!! The only modification needed is the removal/cutting of the dust shield.

I hav a pic of my front stock caliper showing how close it is to the wall of the wheel, then I took a pic of the new rear setup:

(that is a business card slid between the rotor and wheel wall!

There is literally enough room for me to slide a playing card between it and the wheel!:shock:
There is absolutely no touching between them, but I think I may need to get a 3-5mm spacer so the gap will be a tad bigger.
..Or I'll get 20mm spacers and go ahead and get rid of my poor offset!:p

yea i have this setup in the rear it's awesome. super cheap and great for improving e-brake lock up.

It fits together amazingly! And yes, I need better pics, iPhone and a flashlight do not cut it! But literally there is no gap between the brakes and the wheel wall!

yea they fill up larger wheels nicely. but they also fit in my 15's. I lucked out and got my left rear caliper off the hicas car at pap, it was shiny siler and freshly remaned.

Mine fits almost too perfectly in my 15" wheel. Looks like it touches but it doesn't!

Did your pads hang off the the edge of the rotor by like 1-2mm? A few guys that has done it (including me -test fitting) has reported that the pad hangs off the edge a bit: http://zilvia.net/f/s-chassis/349474-s13-z31-altima-rear-pad-overhang.html

I'll double check in the morning, but I do not recall it hanging over, just close to flush

Quick look seems to make me believe there is definitely a slight overhang of the pad to the rotor. No more than a mm. This won't cause any problems at all. Once I get my new caliper put on I'll take some pics of pad placement.

Ther definitely is a mm or two of overhang. I have been driving on it for 30-40 miles and it works great! I haven't stepped on them hard yet!

how good of idea would it to modify the pads? like take a grinder and angle the edge of the pad where the overhang is,.. I really considering this mod, but the overhang make me nervous.

the over hang should have no ill effects, as long as the 2 pads never touch each other before applying pressure to the rotor. I've had mine on for over 1000 miles with no problems.

Yeah, there is no problem with having them overhang a little bit. They won't move or touch at all. Many have this mod now and I haven't heard anyone having issues with them. I am enjoying it, I'll tell you that much!

Finished the Q45 fronts. Super easy swap and definitely makes a huge difference in braking!

Yes, sorry. You MUST have the 85-86 year brackets. I guess other years are a little different. And '03 Altima (vehicle model trim doesn't matter) rear rotors to be exact.
