you should be building a thicker head of hair for the cold winter months. this doesn't make sense.

are you more stressed during the fall? i think hair loss is stress related without a doubt. anyone that doubts me, look at professional goalies. There's SO many of them that are bald.

i dunno, but its based on my observations. last fall i remember the same thing. and the previous year too.

i remember wheni was in high school i have perfect straight longer hair that whistled in the wind making a mating cat call for hotties. my hair was prettier than theirs.... and it was always crazy.

i am very stressed out without a doubt and my head feels like its constantly about to explode with blood rush, altho i dont show it really.

maybe its time for me to look for a temporary girlfriend to calm my thought down and pamper me a bit...............problem is, i always end up pampering them. arghhh, bad thoughts, bad thoughts!

The average person loses about 100 hairs a day. Hair growth slows a little in the winter and speeds up in the summer. Stress will make your hair fall out...sometimes it falls out while you are stressed and sometimes it falls out after the stressful time is over.

Eating a balanced diet and staying healthy will do wonders for your hair.

Flip love the avatar once again lol.

Dave I think your totally right... thats funny you bring up a thread about this on the site. The other day I was with someone and started to itch my head and what not and it looked like I lost 10pounds of hair. I really do believe this cooler weather makes it do that.

If you massage your head while you are shampooing it, it will help blood flow to your head which in return will make your hair grow.

Heard about this too... I was told when you wash your head don't dig in with your nails just use your finger tips to massage and what not.

I went to school and have my license to do hair so I know all about keeping your hair healthy and what you should and shouldn't do :D

Don't use fingernails to shampoo or scratch your head...this is especially important for people that get hair color or relaxers. Scratching will cause openings on your head which the hair color/relaxer will seep into and cause burning.

I'm an expert at head massages. When I worked in the salon, people always told me that if they could, they would hire me to massage their heads everytime they shampooed their hair. It was flattering.

You should use a clairifying shampoo once a week to get rid of product build-up on your hair. This will allow your hair to grow.

Oh my hair grows.
it grows at the speed of light.
bambam, and i have bangs and crap.

I'm trying to keep my sideburns straight, but it wont stay down!
it keeps curving up, how do i take care of that?

I'm your typical asian guy with long sides and i use wax/glue to shape the hair. i have black hair and it isnt really straight, but not so curly either. like inbetween the two.

Even if your hair grows really fast, I would use a clairifying shampoo once a week to get rid of all the product build up. Clairifying shampoos strip everything out of your hair, that's why they are great to use if you use lots of products on your hair.

Do you put the product on wet sideburns and let it air dry? If so, I would try putting the product on damp sideburns and then using the hair dryer to dry it straight. You can take a comb and comb it straight while blow drying it. What kind of products are you using? What do the bottles say and what brands are they?

my sides are usually almost dry when i put something on em.
i use the thing in the yellow tube.. i forget what the brand was.

its called "glued" or something.
i used to use wax in a green jar, but i dont use it anymore, the "glued" stuff gives me much better hold and shape :)

any suggestions on a good clarifying shampooo?

Tracey

There is a hair product company for men called American Crew. I would suggest using the Peppermint Cleanse once a week for a clairifying shampoo. I know I've seen it at Target before and maybe at Great Clips or a cheap hair salon. I don't normally reccomend using products from salons like Great Clips but American Crew really is a good company...their products do what they claim to.

http://www.americancrew.com/home.htm Check out their website to see all the products they offer.

For a product to keep your sideburns down.....a company called Woody's Quality Grooming makes a head wax and different styling gels that actually work. You can probably buy these from different hair care websites or maybe in some salons. I don't know many salons that actually carry it but you might be lucky to run into one that does.

http://www.woodysgrooming.com/index.html

I know what products you are talking about. The "glued" stuff really does work as I used it when my hair was spikey. It's from a company called Swartzkoff which only makes quality products. To be honest though, you just have to keep buying products until you find one that works. What works for some, doesn't work for others.

Most waxes, gels, pastes will cause your skin to break out if the hair that you are using it on touches your face. These products will clog your pores which will cause break outs. Be sure to wash your face twice a day, morning and before bed, to prevent this. You should try all natural/organic/vegan products. All natural and vegan products don't contain all the harsh chemicals that other products do. It's worth a try.

I know that most people don't take the time to look at the chemicals in the ingredient list...but I have. I turned our salon into an all natural/vegan/green salon. It's amazing how little people know or care about what goes into their bodies...but I did it for the better of our clients and to make them aware of what they were doing. They care about what food they eat but they don't even realize that shampoos, conditioners, products, lotions, etc...seep into your body from your pores. So if you are going to eat right, you might as well put that thought process into everything that you put on your body.

A few companies you should look into:

Pureology-http://www.pureology.com/

John Masters Organics- http://www.johnmasters.com/

Barex Italiana- http://www.barex.it/site/home

I bow to you.
Last time i went for a cut, they told me to use organic stuff, but I completely forgot about it!

however.. organic vs non-organic, doesnt the non-organic have better holding/shaping properties?

I'm what you'd consider half-curly (thats a direct translation from how koreans say it) haired and i have alot hair (volume?).

not having any hair is all right. I had no hair for a period of about a year, even nose hair (how do I know this, it came out in Kleenex, gross right). It was kinda nice, cept not having eye lashes is damn annoying, those things really do stuff. I mean people tell you they do and all, but then you don't have them and it's very apparent.
Also my facial hair came back with a bunch of red in it.
