This happened awhile ago, but it is still one of my favorite stories. One night I decide to go up the mall and pick up one my buddies so we can hang out. We met up with another buddy of mine who recently purchased a new Viper. After dinner, we are in the parking lot and I am checking out his new ride while he smokes. So low and behold this faded red old school IROC Camaro comes cruising (skipping) by just dazzled by the Viper. So they get out and start to ask all these questions about it.
After awhile of drooling over the Viper, he starts talking about his “muscle car” he just purchased. Now I am not one to call someone out, and I respect any man’s car, but come on buddy an IROC? He informs us that he just drove all the way up to Minnesota to pick it up (I am from Georgia). I kind of laughed inside thinking he spent more in gas to get it back then he paid for the car.
Now for the fun part, he proceeds to tell me that he has raced ~23 (can’t remember) “ricers in their little 4 cylinders” and never lost once. His buddy tells me “no offense man.” He goes on about how ricers put big wings and fart cans on their cars to make it look like their fast. As he says this, he kicks my tail pipe and then puts his fist up it saying “Do you really need something this big.” It was a Magnaflow muffler that I had the shop put on with 3in. all the way back. He points out my A-pillar gauges and how fast they make me go.
Anyways, I get kind of pissed. I mean, dude crosses the line when he touches my car. And his friend tells me “No offense man, no offense.” I finally wake up (thinking this guy had some common sense) and asks if he wants to run this 4 cylinder. Him and his buddy fall on the floor (literally) in laughter.
My buddy with the Viper raises his eyebrows because he knows the car is pretty quick. After they stop laughing, they said “No you don’t want any of that.” “It has a VEE EIGHT in it.” He emphasized v8. So I walk over to it, and notice first thing that it is automatic. I asked if it was modded, and said no that he just bought it. His friend laughs and says “no it’s fast enough. It has a high output 305.”
I then prepare the bait. I asked if they had any cash. He said “yeah, why?” I replied, “Well I wanted to see how well it would run against my little 4 cylinder.” He said alright, how about 40 bucks?” Evidentially that is all he had. His buddy again says “No a thousand.” I asked if he had the grand on him. He said no but he could get it. And he assured me that he wasn’t going to lose anyhow. I agreed to the 40 bucks if he wanted and told him to head to the highway.
He comes up with excuses that it wasn’t running right. It sound like it was running only 7, and I could see holes in the exhaust. So I told him, oh well I don’t want to lose my money anyways (trying for another bait.) But when you leave out of here get on it, and let’s see if I can keep up.
The Viper leaves first and I follow and the no-need-to-mod muscle car is behind me. So the Viper leaves in a hurry and I keep it at around 40 in second. I hear the roar (exhaust leak, and rod knock) of this poor wore out iroc coming up on me. Both are looking over with the biggest grins on their faces.
They hit it and I go by them like they are standing still. I laugh at their ignorance. They slowly pull back up and ask to run again and use the excuse that he was in the wrong gear (automatic?) Anyways, we just happen to catch a light. He is doing all he can to power brake and do a burnout but the car just gives up. Light turns red and I play with him. At the top of first I finally floor it and go by him. I go into second and cross up a little in his lane. I let off and hear the little 305 coming back for his top end kill. I let him get to about my window and then, I put multiple bus lengths on him.
They do go around me and pull into a gas station. I follow. They are shocked, asking if I have a turbo. I say “I don’t know, the motor is close to stock.” Thinking if they have to ask, well you fill in the rest. I saw well now you can’t say that you haven’t been beat by a 4 cylindar. Best part was my friend leans over and says, “Hey man, that thing is slow as shit… no offense man, no offense.”
Later that night I got my ass handed to me by a Viper.

14psi sr s14 beats tired iroc. They were talking crap, and I almost had a race for money. Both races weren’t even close. But I did get to rub it in their face. There are a lot of stupid people out there.
