   i just take my old brake pad out and put in a new brake pad but the caliper wont fit in, and i dont have that kind of tool to press on the caliper assembly and push the piston all the way in, resetting the brake once the new pads are in place. can i use something else to push the piston all the way in?

put the old pad in, and push the cylinder with the pad on with a pry bar.
1-open bleeder
2-push with prybar
3-close bleeder while you have the cylinder all the way pushed down so it wont suck air in.
4-remove old pad, and put in new pads.

make sure u have rags to put over the bleeder so the brake fluid does not go flying everywhere.

let me kno if u have any questions

it is also way easier if you have a C-Clamp, and i recommend u buy one if you plan to do brakes in the future again.
Also, for the rear ones you need a special key that is like $9 at advance and is used with a ratchet to push and spin at the same time, do not even try to push them only, it WONT HAPPEN!

did you mean shut down the engine?

what? no. The wheel cylinder you have been trying to push in to get the new pads to clear the rotor, isn't that what u had problems with in the first place?

what does where i live have to do with anything? lol

you dont have any channel locks? do any of your friends?
it just gets torque on the piston and pushes it into the caliper.

and if it is the rear, get some pliers and stick it in the slots and twist, difficult yes but it works

For the rears I actually prefer using needle nose over the spikey box thing, its ways easier IMO.

jeez you should have not done your brakes.

Did you ever get the caliper piston pushed in? If so when you put new pads on did you bleed your brakes once you was done?

you dont have to bleed the brakes for pads.

and you went wrong unscrewing the bleeder screw. obviously you didnt do it right and let air into your line which makes your brakes "not work". theres no fluid for it to work.

you need someone to help you bleed your brakes. Let someone sit in the car and pump the brake until it gets stiff then loosen the bleeder screw. Keep doing this on all calipers until fluid comes out of them all.

help!

did u close the bleeder again? u might have the brake ligh on bc u need to put more brake fluid since u lost some while u pushed the piston in.

oh, and i asked about thebleeder bc u did not wrote in there that u closed it but u screw the caliper and put the wheels on.

We always bleed our brakes when changing the pads. Just to be on the safe side :goodjob:

I usually wouldnt say this, being a firm believer in DIY and all, but if this is over your head I don't think you should be doing your own work here. Especially not on something as life-threatening as your brakes.

Tow it to a shop and have them fix it, or beg/hire someone to come fix it for you and show you how. This could potentially kill you. No more joy rides with only your e-brake please.

hi guy thanks again for telling me to bleed my engine and fail and have to bring it to a shop and spend more money than i thought, i agree with BONEZ there no need to bleed your engine when it come to changing brake pad, you only need bleed your engine until changing your brake caliper, but thanks anyway:goodjob:
