View Full Version : The Price of a KA24 and CA18. KA more?
So I'm just curious, how much a stock KA would go for? When I do have a swap done I would like to know how much I can get for my KA. Well I did some research for a 91-94 KA 16 Valve I can get it anywhere from $1600-2600. I think that's BS because you can get a SR20 for a little more then 2600 and a CA for 1300.
Can someone help me find the REAL price? I thought it would be around $600-900
So lets assume the engine has 190K on it and no problems. How much would that sell for?
This is where I found the info

how is it ridiculous? gas used to be 65 cents a gallon as far as i remember.
now its 3 bucks. we still buy it.
its simple economics. KA motors are bought and sold for 300-1200 bucks. thats the reality. if you can get one for less or sold it for more, good for you. but thats reality.
the price is what the buyer will pay for it, and what the seller will let it go for. econ 101 equilibrium of supply and demand.
depending on your motor and how you feel its worth, sell it for what you think its worth.
i rather spend 300 bucks more for a motor that you think is better. why spent 300 and the thing blow up on you? then you woulod have spent another 300 and still shit. you would have lost 600 and twice the time.
anyways. good ruck and keep humping. fall is here. :)

wow at how long it took to come to a conclusion onm this thread. :toung:
i sold my ka24de and 5sp transmission last year for $350. They usually go for more than that on eBay. They often sell on eBay for around $500.

i can see BRAND new KA going for 2k+
but used... at the most, optimistically speaking, you'll get 450-500 for a motorset
longblock only.. 100-175
tranny.. 150-175
depending on what the person wants to pay.

Its ridiculous because youre gettin ~210 hp for 2500 bucks
VS rb25s that go for around the same price, make much more power and have more potential
And not to mention 2500 bucks put in a KA would own any stock SR for 2500
to me thats ridiculous
call me crazy though

okay so
~2500 for sr bolt in swap.
~3000 for rb25
+350 for mounts
+100 for good fans
+custom driveshaft if you use the rb25 tranny.
turns into an ass load of money
+ fluids + power steering lines + front mount
i mean cmon ....
its atleast a grand more to do an rb25 swap correctly
you pay for power
theres a reason why
ka24 is the cheapest 155 hp
rb20 is cheapish 205hp
ca18 is cheapish 190hp?
sr20 is ~2500 210hp
rb25 is even more expensive 250hp *280neo*
you pay for power
i completely agree with you man.
lol...

ok.
that is call individual reasoning purchase.
that has nothing to do with the price.
that is your reasoning for choice. options.
why sony and not panasonic? panasonic has more features than the sony but the same price. you are crazy to buy the sony...preference of choice.the buyer pays.
there is an obvious reason why the motor is more sought out.
your argument has nothing to do with why the price is higher or should be lower.
you are saying..........
why pay for regular gasoline for 3.10 when i can pay 3.10 for diesel and put it in my cummin turbo diesel and pull harder than your gasoline truck? i get more tq and power for the same money.
jewish dave!!!!
how much would you have spent on your rb25det in your '62 batmobile??
to get the power you have??
(not actually spent coz we all know you are more jewish than me besides the name, but an averaqe person)
whoever spends 2500 bucks on a KA- needs to talk to jeff from CIP and 240sxmotoring.
or my friend damien bagley from drift brigade. the have fully built KA's that run hard bouncing off the redline.
they would love to chat about that motor.
Does no one ever realize that not everyone wants to mod thier 240SX, and that maybe KA is worth more to someone than an Sr based on the fact that its a direct swap and that it will get their car down the road.
Personally, I wouldnt buy that high mileage of a motor unless it was dirt cheap.
Just like if I do a DOHC swap in my hatch, Im ordering an S14 motor from a distributor in Texas ror Florida. I'll pay $600-$700 for a motor that comes with a warranty, and that I can walk into any parts store to get shit for.
Like I said, not everyone who buys engines want power, most of the people that will pay the most for a motorset are the shops that repair cars, based on the fact that it makes them look bad when they put in a shit motor.
Hell, the motorset that went into my S14 I had was over $800, and it was with 125 on the clock.
Christ, when it comes to prices, everything isnt about power to alot of people, no one seems to understand that. Use common sense. Id rather pay $700 for a motor that is guaranteed, and with a warranty than I would spend $400 on one that I dont know shit about.
James and I have a Maxima we are in halfsies on sittin at my house that Im doing a motorswap in, and the motor was $700 with a 6month warranty on everything that was shipped, sensors and all. I found motors for less, but the fact of having a warranty on something and knowing its a good motor is worth more than saving money.

see, buyer pays for what its worth, not what the seller or goon ball thinks its worth.
