What do you get when you do elementary mm-> in conversions...and a little research + machining? A 6 pot setup for under $1k that makes you go
*** 6piston oem brembos off Q7/Touareg/Cayenne for 350mm rotor aka 18z calipers in the audi/vw/porsche forums + 14" 370z front sport rotors + coming soon custom 6061 aluminum adapter brackets for 240sx

These will be powdercoated too...and disregard the oem rotor...I only got that to fab up my brackets...I will be ordering stoptech slotted rotors this week hopefully.
ENJOY!

So I managed to mock up the other day...needless to say I didn't like how everything fit together. The bracket I would have to fab would have the caliper farther down horizontally looking in the wheel...so I'm trying one other route (Ford gt500 14" rotor) in hopes that the offset of the rotor will be different. If not then the bracket will be made and well the calipers will sit a little lower than perfectly horizontal or above the zero y plane. Anyway here's some pics of the mock up

sorry had recently reorganized my photobucket...still working on this...just been swamped with school and work...but quit both my jobs cuz I'm getting ready to move...I may have to continue this fab up and just keep using my 300zx tt setup for the time being as I have to drive the car in 2 weeks.

I do not know how much the setup weighs...I do know the rotor is bulky but honestly anyone's opinion on weight or anything of that nature doesn't really matter to me as I'm merely doing it because one it will perform well and second it's going to look baller... the difference in weight doesn't outweigh the pros for me at least.

Educate me please. What is the advantage of having the caliper perfectly horizontal vs. 35-45 degree angle? Maybe I should pay more attention to the position of the caliper on the other cars that I have looked at but I have not noticed to many of them being anywhere near horizontal. Most of the cars (super cars) seem to have them close to vertical.

I meant the caliper is more in the 4 oclock position rather than the 2-3 oclock position...either way...I've got the steel cut and got my transfer punches lathed (yes I had to lathe punches that fit the caliper holes perfect and the spindle holes). Anyway tomorrow I should have the hole patterns drilled and then the next step is lightening up the brackets...and milling a step in the bracket to accomodate the mounting difference. I'll post pics probably tomorrow nite...sorry again everyone school has been kickin my arse and I've been swamped...now it's a rush to get this stuff done before the machine shop closes up for the semester.:ohnoes:

Very nice stuff here! But really, if you have a scale, many peeps on here would like to know the wieght. what kinda brake line will need to be used?

---------- Post added at 02:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:39 AM ----------

Also, do you have a pic of what the GT500 rotor would look like mocked up like the above pics? Having the caliper higher up seems to look more normal :D

Gt500 rotor didn't work out as I was buying and returning rotors to Advanced lol and what they had listed and what I got wasn't a 14" rotor..and well I'm not shelling out money for something I have no idea if it will work or not and I can't return...hence advanced. I'm going ahead with the 370z sport rotor..as the caliper will only be between the 3-4 O'clock position if you're looking at the wheel. Weight shouldn't be a big concern as I don't have $700 dollars to blow on lightweight hats...and I'm using a STOCK 370z sport rotor to make my brackets. The brakes will not ACTUALLY be installed till later (if I can find lightweight 14" 370z sport rotors without selling a testicle ..by all means) ...but I'll probably be going with stoptech slot'ds and I have no idea what they weigh versus the gargantuan stock rotor...so enough about the weight jeeeeeebus lol :pirate:

Let's just say this though...the stock 370z sport rotor ain't no tiny BEOTCH lol:lmfao:

just order 2 piece rotos and hats, its way easier to get the offset right.

and p.s in all of your mock up pics the wrong caliper is on the wrong side... staggered pistons should run larger -> smaller

cough me up $1700 dollars buddy :screwy:

Oh and P.S. the bleeder is on top, and I'm pretty sure I have them on the right side...as they're marked 18ZL and 18ZR for people like you that didn't know the bleeder goes on top...but don't argue with me...argue with brembo right? haha ...there's not any pics where the pistons are in view anyway..I don't know where you came up that

Nice sig btw lmfao

i dont see why you had to make punches....

I cut transfer punches so I could slip them in the caliper holes and spindle holes (tight fit diameter...maybe a couple thousands off what I measured with a telescoping gauge for that range of hole), and then put paint on the end of the punch (cylinder with a small flat point), mind you everything is c clamped down in position. This will render a bracket with holes that should be within a couple thousandths of what the mockup was...which is right where the tolerance space between the caliper and the spindle holes was.

And I go to PSTCC up here in Knoxville, I'm moving to TX though here in like 2.5 weeks to finish up school and overall a better economy...as I used to make $1-2k in 3 days of work ...now I'm lucky to make $500 in a month.

and btw very nice setup you have here im loving this.

Also can you answer the other gentlemens question on the advantages on which angle the brake calipers are at benifits?

I used to bartend at place where the regulars had been coming for 30+ years...and everyone tipped 30% and above....honestly ...but after the economy went to hell...so did the money.

the first set of pics just shows wheel clearance...that's not where the caliper will be mounted.

I'm trying to keep the caliper in as close to the stock position as I said ...because although the bracket will transfer the force pretty much into the same location and angle as the stock holes...of course I don't want to deviate much from this as it may affect the suspension...especially when braking when the wheels are turned.

MB weapons...I'm wanting to get some 18x9.5 battles too as I love mb wheels ...cheap and well constructed.
