I dip the sliding pins in grease and twist it down to try to "distribute" the grease evenly around the pin, but it all seems to gunk up in the boot. How are you guys getting it down in the caliper good enough?

Take the boot off, take pin out, grease pin individually (doesn't need a whole shit ton), replace pin, replace boot. Rinse and repeat per pin.

But even with the boot off, won't the grease still jumble up? Or am I using too much? lol

Don't be afraid to use too much...you can always wipe off the excess.

Also, make sure that you remove all of the old grease from the pin after removing it.

At work I take some grease on my finger and put a shitload of it on the tip of the pin and then slide it in...no homo.

So you put it on the sides and put a lot on tip of the pin too?

Damn this chat sounds homo...

I did that too put some extra grease on the tip, then slide that tip into the boot and all the alot of the grease stays on the pin. just wipe off the excess amount of grease ;)

you could also put some grease in the boot as well before you put the pin in.

Yeah, I left the grease in there and just wiped the excess off. Just wondering how much is needed since it seems so much excess came out. Guess they'll be fine.

I did both as well, grease on tip and around the whole pin itself. Thanks guys.

You may also want to spin the pin once its in, to ensure that it is completely greased.

Cool, I'll keep that in mind when I replace these boots on my Q45 brakes.

Make sure you clean all of the old grease off really good first.

Damn, almost forgot. You want to get a good wire brush (like you clean a gun barrel with) and clean out the pin-hole. There could very possibly be a lot of dirt and old grease caked in there. Spray some brake cleaner in there and do work. Let it dry, THEN put your freshly greased sliders in.
