how thick have you bondo'ed up a car? out of curiosity, i'd like to know to what lengths you all have gone to in covering up bad spots on a car. i've never worked with the stuff on a car's exterior before, just in building sub enclosures, so i'd like to have an idea of how thick you can get away with on the exterior of a car.

as much as you want.
as long as the mixture is good and the curing is longer, you should have a problem. less as possible is better.
Does it depend on if the part you're bondoing will be bending at all or moving?

^ yes that does play apart... if it isnt mixed right and theres too much, it will "fall" out when that particular area bends or moves or if something hits it. your best bet is to pull out or hit out as much of the dent as possible. ive seen these nightmares come into m body shop before where other shops royally f*cked some stuff up.

I would prefer not to go over 1/8". Always better to be less. I have gone over 1/8" motorcycle race glass and tanks but that was just to make it look good in pictures and plus we all knew it was going to hit the ground again. No need to make it perfect when it was going to get wrecked again and again.
On a nice street car 1/8" or less. Show car as little as possible. Race car may vary depending on how bad the damage and how much money you want to put in it.
Thats my opinion hope it helps.
I would say use good materials and use as little as possible.

its best to stay under 1/4". any more and there is a very good possibility of it falling out. if the dent is on the door, stay with as little bondo as possible, because the frequent opening and closing of the door will rattle the bondo and make the bondo and fresh paint possibly fall out.
What are you bondoing?
