I don't get why yall don't get it.
your little alarms and petty kill switches are no match for the pros who get your car.
a simple scoop and go method is all they use.

They don't drive your POS away...
they tow it.
GET IT ???
---------- Post added at 10:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:13 AM ----------
they know better then to drive some kids POS. Knowing the car and owner they know they will pull out of the parking lot and damn wheel might fall off or something.

"Scoop and Go"
As in... they tow it.
A lot of people won't even question a tow truck towing your car... guess why that is?
So you've got the rouge tow truck drivers/companies out there doing just that... They tow your car... take what they want off of it... you report it stolen... and then the police call you and say it was "recovered" by a towing company... they "found it" abandoned and "stripped"... Then to add insult to injury... they charge you OUT THE ASS to pick up your own car, and then you probably end up buying your own parts back off eBay or CL from the same people that stole your car in the first place.
So... given that reality... how exactly is a fuel pump cut-off going to help you?
You want to protect your car?
High risk for the "forgetful"... but rig a mercury switch to a spark creator that you've placed in the gas tank.
Make it so you can "set" the switch every time you park it... so that if the angle of the car changes when you haven't moved it... it will blow up. Adding various shrapnel to it will also help enhance the car theif's regret that he ever tried to jack your car.
Lol.

It sounds like a good idea but if someone is going to target a paticular type of car I would think that they would do there home work in the area that there doing it. They see these write ups and now they now what to look for

BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adding some sort of extra "BANG" might also be helpful... however...
My best guess tells me that while the thief might not get away with it... you would have a ruined car... insurance would not pay the claim, and you would likely go to Federal Prison for rigging something like that up. :goodjob:
Consider my "suggestion" a joke. Do not attempt it unless the Zombie Apocalypse is upon you, or some other "End of Days" scenario is present... and even then, it's probably best to not blow up your own car just to maim a thief...
You'd be better off looking for some other method... like not having anything a thief wants.

why not instead of fucking with the ecu, you just pull the fuel pump fuse??

Yeah, that would be a lot easier... but a PITA to do every time you drive.
Just do like cyclists do... take your wheel(s) off... and take them and the seat with you... then bolt it to a pole or something.
Or... OR!
Best Idea yet!
GET THEFT INSURANCE WITH A LOW DEDUCTABLE AND STATED VALUE FOR MODS AND THEN FORGET ABOUT IT!!!!

yea its called boobytrapping. illegal in the state of ga.
dont want someone to tow your car? make sure its low, low, low. then put those air jacks under it in a couple of spots. park the car. and push the jacks into the ground lol. dont lift the wheels off the ground cuz then theyll steal your wheels.

people commit armed robbery to get 100 bucks out of the drawer at a convenience store. armed robbery is a felony...
im sure stealing cars is too, but theres alot less risk involved in jacking someones car. and everyone knows you cant dump OEM parts off on ebay and expect to make profit. aftermarket or high dollar cars.

far to much work for your POS 240.
and if your cars worth over 10k or more...a kid doesn't own it. And he doesn't drive it to the mall on a Friday night with his lame friends.
so.... all in all. Waste of time :)

Just install a USB key and push button start. It won't help keep someone from towing it but it's really really cool when you use a USB jump drive to start your car.

How about EARLY WARNING LOJACK???? Car moves more than a foot in any direction without the keyfob, car gets called in. Thats pretty simple idea too! Im 100% for the boobytrappin tho. 10 or 15 people got blown up stealing cars the car theft numbers would drop dramatically!

From someone whose car already has been stolen before..
they'll really use a tow truck with a bed.
not a bad theft preventative method, but still they'll get it if they want it.

quick disconnect shifter. smaller than a steering wheel, and you can leave your car in gear so its harder to tow.
again not perfect, but better than nothing.

Well, I'm not going to say I've done it... or that I can tell you how to do it... or that it's a super good idea... I'm not gonna say that.
But yeah... if you're forgetful make sure you don't mind 3rd degree burns over 75% of your body... "Burn Victim" is probably not a look that will catch on any time soon... who knows though.

Put your car in gear so it is harder to tow? Your car is rwd. With handbrake and in gear, your front wheels can still move. And do you know how easy it is to get into your car without the key? I knew cause I locked my key inside the car before and it took AAA 1 minute to open the door since the window is frame-less...
Yes, if they want to steal it, you cannot stop it.
JJ: the thief will be piss at you because they want a 13B, not an SR. They will just put the car back in the original spot.

I think that their are only 2 legitimately good options you have to prevent getting your car stolen by a tow truck.
1.) Park another car behind yours if you have a driveway/parking spot that allows this.
2.) Park in an enclosed garage with a locking garage door.
I was lucky to have option (1) when I lived with my parents. They also have 4 night vision security cameras that would automatically record to a slowed down VHS if there was any movement on the cameras. Pretty cool shit.

Allen I have seen cars stolen when blocked in on driveways.
Want the 100% guaranteed way not to have a car or any other cool shit stolen from you?
Don't own a car or any other cool shit.
If they want it, they will get it. Only a matter of time.

This is the only good idea aside form not owning a car in this whole thread, also, http://www.gpsantitheftsystems.com/
It's great for keeping track of your car, or the car of anyone you want to stalk.
P.S.- JJ, don't look too closely behind the gauge cluster in the FC, i see you there, eatin' McD's.

The USB Key is nothing more than a piece of wire that connects the two metal parts of the usb together and causes the usb port to close a circuit. so basically if you want to steal that car all you have to have is a small wire.

Here is one of my anti-theft mods.
http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu34/Grimace_240/Picture292.jpg
I've got a couple more locked up.
That and my Silvia sits in my locked garage which is right under my room. Any time it leaves the garage, I'm in it at all times. It will never be parked at any store parking lots and such. The only time it will ever be in a parking lot is at the local car meets. Even then I always have it in eye sight.
As far as the K5 goes, Good luck towing that away. It's so top heavy it would roll off the back of a flat bed, and you cant dolly it. Unless you want to drag 35x12.50's down the road. I don't think you will get very far doing that.

my cousin just got the seats out of his s2000 stolen... they hut his top unlocked the doors and took his seats....
he got a proximity sensor and now he just leaves the top down and windows down... if someone breaks into his car and he is with a mile then hell know....
atleast hell know something happened when he gets there ? or something....
i think GPS tracker with back up battery and proximity sensor and txt alerts might do it, no one will expect it on your shitty 240...
but dont fuck up and forget to arm your shit!!!
