So before I get with making more power I figured I would make is stop better or at least more consistently over longer periods of hard braking. I know that some would say that I should have gone with the Z32 brakes but I was able to get a pair of Q45 front brakes for $27. I bought some new rotors pads and caliper paint. I’m wondering if anyone can tell me:
· Should I have grabbed the rear brakes too?
· Would the Q45 rear brakes have required an e-brake mod?
· Would the Q45 BMC work for this upgrade?
I did a few searches but I could not find any answers. I’m hoping someone out there can help me find the answers to my questions.
Thanks!

Don't laugh not a lot I just want 300 at the wheels (KA-T). My brake pads are gone and I'm sure the rotors need turning so I thought I would upgrade. Would you happen to know a local shop that would have the steel braided brake lines or will I have to go on line and order some up? Does your brake pedal feel soft?

Idk any locale stores that have them, just get regular s13 ss brake line. It was a lil bit stiffer then stock with the stock lines ss helped but its not like really stiff or anything until you really push into them.

Hello!
According to my stance, you should not have grabbed the rear brakes too. I just did Q45 brake upgrade and am using the stock MC, works great. Not to spongy at all. The Q45 BMC would work for this upgrade.

Thanks for the info. If I don't need to change the BMC I wont. I guess if I change my mind I can try to go snatch it up and get it installed. The brakes are going on the car this weekend (tonight) and I will have to make it so the rear ones match (I have to paint them red also). Some people will like it some wont but I like it so. . . It takes a few coats to get them to look good but it was worth the time. I did not get the rattle can stuff I picked up the kit where you have to hand paint (brush) it on.

check with Z1 for brake lines. not sure if they have what you're looking for, but best call and check with them. They are out towards Douglasville.

I will not be finishing this mod this weekend. I lost one of the bolts that connecty the caliper onto the mounting bracket. Infiniti wants $26 and three days. I'm going to try to find one tomorrow from I don't know where but I hope I can find one. I'll start at Nissan and see if the have one the same size even if it is from something else. eerrrrrrrrrrr!

Pull a Part. $0.50 at most.

I've had Q45 Brakes for 3 years, No problems. SS Lines do help with a firm pedal.

Bleed them thoroughly. Completely flush the old fluid out of the system. gets rid of any moisture caused from heating and cooling of the fluid, along with any air bubbles.

Well I goter done. I went to Pull-a-Part and spoke to a Latino gentlemen who greeted me as brother and not just because I’m black. We spoke for a moment and in parting he said God bless you. I responded with you to and have a good day. I was walking past the first of the three rows were I knew there was a Q45 with no brakes. I know the brake caliper bolts that I needed would not be there but I was compelled to look anyway. And there on the ground were two front brake caliper bolts for a Q45. I found the guy that I spoke to on my way in and told him God is good. He knew just what I was talking about. We spoke for another minute and parted ways. I went to pay for them and was charged nothing. If you want you could say I paid 50 cents for them because it does cost a dollar to get into Pull-a-Part. I got the brakes installed with the help of my two sons and what a difference. The pedal really did not feel all that different than it did before. This mod was well worth the time and effort. Now I just have to finish making the rear ones red to match the front.

Tank - I am glad it all worked out for you. Several months ago I did the research and decided to go with Q45 fronts and rebuilt stock rears. I also took time to add a few coats of color to my new calipers. They installed relativily easily. I ordered my SS brake lines from FRSport.com and I was not dissappointed. A special note to save time and lots of effort, is to purchase a set of speed bleeders!!! They made life so easy when it came time to bleed the system. I chose to stay with stock BMC. I have a spongy feeling when I first touch my brake pedal. Then it firms up quickly. I can adjust to it. I may eventually replace both the brake booster and the BMC to get the perfect brake pedal feel.

Good luck with your brake setup!!!
