okay so as some of you guys know the ka took a dump and im now upping to a SR(yay for me).

well i figured what better time to install gauges then now.

I was looking at the Stri gauges as there aver very nice well known in japan but good dam bit cheaper than the rest.

but the have a new line of gauges that are mech and then a couple that are electrical. so what's the diff btwn a electric and mechanical gauge.

heres a link to the site, the gauges are very much like the Defi linK meter series with open/close sequence.

The difference between electric and mechanical gauges is basically how the gauge gets its signal.

For example, a mechanical oil pressure gauge will have a line that sends oil directly into the back of the gauge.

For an electrical gauge the line that carries the oil will go to a sending unit, then a signal wire is sent to the back of the gauge.

I like electrical gauges better just because if the line leaks you don't have oil or water or whatever leaking inside your car.

hmmm so are there less wires running every where with Electrical gauges.

also are there any other gauges i really need for sr swap. I was looking at Boost and Oil pressure, those together of the electrical are like 310$......and i dont have to much to toss into this.....enough but not enough

The electrical ones will have I think just one more wire, the signal wire.

All you really need is boost and oil pressure.

temp gauges are usually a good thing to have as well. the stock cluster gauge is not very acurate.
