I'm doing a special. I will weld your roll cage in for $75.00 a point ( That's around $600.00 for 8 point ) . If you need a custom cage (D1/FD legal) I will do them for $1500.00 some exceptions may apply (http://240atlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32777&highlight=turbodave&page=2#) (Extra Bars, ect). All custom cages are done with DOM tubing and Tig welded.

It depends.
Im no expert (sorry for chiming in on your thread too, Dave), but things like the location of critical welds, the number of bends, total radii of bends on a single bar, tubing material, tubing thickness, and moutning locations all play a part in determining if the cage is legal.
If your main hoop has too many bends to begin with it will never be legal, or if the rear bars have bends, things like that.

If it's mild steel no.
Most cages you can buy are not user friendly(hit your head w/helmet on and your arms hit bars).
If your are going to setup to D1 or so on you need to do it right from the start it will save you alot of money in the long run.

If you go by 75.00 a point yes, but basic 4point harness bars are 200.00 plus tubing

If you are REALLY going to do any kind of drifting you need a good cage, bolt in ones are just to get you by. A full cage will make your car handle better, you have a better feel for what the car is doing and adjustments will stay( body won't flex all over the place). Not to mention you might not die if you smack the hell out of something or someone or roll over.

estimated price on a basic 6 point? (looking for mounts behind the front seats, on the rear shock towers, and door bars with more than one bar, also need a harness bar)
looking for prices on a legit cage and a cheepo one so i can compare.
thanks!

You can do a six point with two door bars but that doesn't work right unless it's a x or nascar style bars tied into dash bars (you can do a rocker bar and a door bar) but it still doesn't work the same. A standard six point is around $900.00 w/extra bars $1000.00

Yes, it's cheaper to do the full cage in the long run than upgrade your six point later. But if all you need is a six point than just do that. You have to think almost the same floor plates/boxes are used for both setups. ( prepping floor boards for welding plates/boxes is alot of work) You just need to add the dash bars ect which is very hard if the main hoop is already welded in (you almost or can't get the bars welded all the way around). This makes the price go way up to add braces/gussets.
