How to make trunk pop open?

I've seen some s13's that when you pop the trunk using the lever by the drivers seat, it pops open so you can go to the back and just pull it open. Mine doesn't do that. I have to have someone pull up on it while I pull the lever.

I was wondering what makes it "pop" open. Is it the shocks or the rubber stoppers? If it is the stoppers, anyone know of a good way to adjust them or modify them so they push enough on the lid to make it pop open?

however this may cause the trunk to rattle.


the gromets are there to keep it slightly above the catching point.
either adjust the catcher or raise the gromet.

mine wont work at all. i can only open my trunk with a key. how do i fix it?

I have that same problem, Brant has the same problem and I forget who else had the same problem..

When no one is around you can use ( lanyard, your watch, hammer...attach lanyard to lever pull back, now stretch like elastic boy and grab the hatch and pull up...suck when your the only one around...

there is a latch that bolts into the body of the car...not the latch that is bolted on the hatch itself...

two 10mm screws hold it, unscrew those...move the latch down , and tighten...

I'll try that. Reason is I removed the key assembly from my trunk and added a kill switch...

I've got the same problem as well, and I've got brand new shocks on my hatch.

I'm hoping the carbon hatch helps solve the problem.

Try adjusting the bottom lever. Like BenefitX suggested. I have just gotten use to it on S13's. You can prop the lever up with something when you pull it. Like a cloth shoved under there.

Jeez man, don't cut metal... Theres a better way to fix it.

I noticed that my trunk(hatch) will open if I don't just my door.

lol, usually when I shut my door after pulling the latch, for some reason the hatch locks back o_o

Mine does the opposite. When I slam the door, it latches back.

mine works, but for some reason the key to my trunk doesnt work, its wierd. i wish it didnt tho, or else thieves wouldnt have stole my shit twice
