Ive looked as many places i can to find out why the heck my the battery in my brothers 240sx isnt charging. We bought a brand new battery because the old one was bad. I took the car to get it tested and they told me the alternator was good. And it was probably the "Alternator wire" I called around and tried to find this wire but no one seems to carry such a part. not even the Nissan Dealership. They tried to sell me a complete wiring harness.
Pretty much what the problem is is that The battery light stays on in the car. I dont know exactly where to look next. Ive searched online and i cant seem to find a solution. If anyone can help me figure this out it would be greatly appreciated.

It doesnt charge at all. I will check the fuse today but i dont think thats it. I would like to buy another alternator but the guy at advance auto parts said the readings show the alternator is good. However i would like to avoid spending unessecary money if the alternator is good. But yea it doesnt even charge.

Have you checked all of the wires going to the alternator? There should be 3. Positive, ground and signal wire. If any one of them aren't connected or aren't connected well you will run into problems...

check your ground wires tracking it from the batt cables.

ground wires will cause it to not charge? Anyway I am going to get under the car tonight once i get off my ass and decide to move it into the garage. Its real dark outside.

or you might have a parasitic batt drain.
or you can try taking the batt out and charge it.
or like me my ground wires werent connected and the car didnt start unless the battery was jumpstarted

oem alternator sucks they dont charge the battery. get an aftermarket alternator. and high output. they make a gold one which is pretty cool.

Once I had to replace my alternator and neglected to tighten the 12v from the battery, leaving about 3mm of play. Because of this, my battery light on almost consistently and sparked so much I had to replace the alternator because it f'd the screw to the 12v ont he alternator.
In conclusion, Its important those 3 wires are properly secure.
