and started making ITB's
45mm I.D
height including flange without velocity stack is about 62mm, im currently working on the butterfly shaft and the actual butterfly. then when i can figure out runner spacing i can copy this and make 4, link the shaft together and maybe figure out a tps mounting solution.

So do you just make those plans then let the computer make the part? What all is involved in making something like that from start to finish? I'm really interested in working with making parts like this...

i had to define dimensions, edges, etc. tell it what to extrude to what height. where to constrain and fasten parts together.
to make this part in a mill id have to translate it over to mastercam 9 and set feedrates and tool paths that the mill would follow then setup tooling and make a jig to hold the stock in the mill, etc etc

sounds really really confusing.
+1 for making your own shit!
Thats kinda neat. You should let me come watch you make something some time...

yea i mean if i get my laptop working i'll come over and teach you some basics. or i can just install it on your pc.
im not currently working at the machine shop since school just started. gotta get leveled out and see if they need me to work.
i may get another job at a different shop where i will actually be designing product and setting up machines, etc.
right now where i work i just do manual lathe work and run the cnc mills and lathes

if all goes to plan and i can get a spare sr20det intake manifold so i can measure it and make a 3d flange/runner i'll swap the flanges over to vband and see if i can talk the boss into letting me make one of these.. 45mm itb's on a boosted sr20 ftw
imagine cnc machined runners and all.. mmmm
