View Full Version : 240 Brake Setups
So I'm pretty sure I want to upgrade the brakes on the 240. What are some of the best options and the costs of each? Maybe upgrade e-brake as well and get something good going for drifting...

the most basic and common mod are the z32 front brakes.. which have 3 caliper options. the 26 mm aluminum, the 30mm aluminum and the cast iron.
all use the same diameter rotor its just the rotor thickness that varies.
the 26mm caliper uses a 26mm thick rotor
the 30mm caliper uses a 30mm thick rotor
the iron caliper uses a 30mm thick rotor
you can also snag some skyline brakes. some people even go as far as using the brembo's off of the g35 and the 250z
the brembo's from the evo and sti will work since the lug patterns are the same

brembos from the 350z and g35 will not fit. their spindle diameter or hub circle w/e you call it is too small to fit over the 240's iirc.
People use the Brembo's off the STI combined with rotors from the Lan Evo VIII and make custom mounts for the calipers. Those are great from what I've heard.

whats wrong with the stock brakes and get some stainless lines and brembo cross drilled or slotted rotors? and some nice pads? would this be a bad setup?

nah that would be perfectly fine. personally i think bbk's really are overkill unless you plan on spending some serious time at the track (whether it be drifting or road tracks or autox). Stock breaks just fine for weekend warriors, personally I think I will upgrade to Z32's before the time attack comp at BHC in march.

drill press ftw :p
i've heard of people using them but they modify the hats for the spindle.

Hmmm..
although i have the Z32 brakes up front..
I personally think Z32 is an overkill for daily and for ones that would see the track maybe once in a blue moon..
I do however, plan on upgrading my rears to the Z32, mainly because the rears on mine looks so dinky right now with the huge calipers up front with tiny things on the rear..
FYI, you can always get Q45 upgrade.. they're a straight bolt on and i believe their "pot" is alot bigger than the stock 240sx calipers.

i have Z32 fronts with stainless lines (with some really old pads all around that are in desperate need of replacing). it does the job fairly well though.
