Older ABS systems suck, and usually cause more accidents then they prevent.

yeah i know the 240 abs system isnt that good... but its not like i could resonably do the swap anyways.
i just wished i had abs in a couple situations that i got myself in

haha its sooo much stuff... new differential, new hubs, new brake lines... ><

Well mines a 96 w/ abs, that fuse idea sounds nice. But what exactly is the point in removing them? (my main reason would have been to clear the engine bay a lil bit) i'm not gonna really drift, just some autox, so am i wrong in believing that it would get me better traction during my braking if i leave it in?

and i have to get a new diff?? whaaat?? new hubs??

no no no

your diff is lsd already youre fine.
but you need to delete your abs if you auto-x cuz youre gonna get tire slip. and its gonna slip more.
abs works when you lock the brakes down.
it stops faster than a full out slide stops.
useless if you know how to brake though.
however, its good in rain imo...
i fear locking up in the rain... its so hard to grab traction really quickly after it locks on you in the wet.... thats why i want abs on my daily

my hicas 240 has ABS and i love it, especially in the rain like viperbite said.

personally, for cars like minivans/trucks/large or heavy cars ABS is a plus.

Although on my sports cars ABS is a minus, my 240 didn't have abs and I like how it as opposed to my dad's sr g20 w/abs. I think they feel the same until you reach the threshold iirc.

no abs can be dangerous in the rain for inexperienced/experienced drivers alike. so be mindful if you do remove it, its a preference

JDori
09-21-2007, 09:41 PM
yea we need a fuse switch system...so u can have it on for driving and turn it off for slidin.

*god that was corny, but hey*

hellfire

I believe it is fused. Which means you can pull the fuse, and not have ABS. Your wish is granted.

JJ Alfano

slam your breaks with abs your breaks will studder but stop you...slam your brakes without ABS and they will lock up and you will slide forever until you die.

remove it

considering that my driving skills are barely above those of a 15 year old. I think i'll just leave the abs in for now...
plus i can only imagine the random problems i'd run into if i tried to physically remove the abs.

I have done it. If you need any help or have any questions feel free to ask.

You can't tell a difference in normal driving, but it does make the engine bay alot cleaner.

Yep, its very simple to do. Either get OEM non ABS lines, or just pick up some lines from your local Auto Parts store and bend them yourself.

i have question....is there any real diff btwn ABS rotors and non ABS rotors...

cause i noticed this alot back in june when i need to replace mine. lots of companies selling abs and non abs rotors.

S14Tech

I wanna say that there is definitely not a difference, but i've never actually checked that myself. You can check the part numbers if you really need to know.

I think actually there is. ABS and Non ABS rotors are different sizes. You can't put ABS rotors on a Non ABS S14. I say this lightly, but I think thats right.

I personally don't like ABS systems mainly because for some reason I can still manage to lock all 4 down and go sliding and if I pump it like non-ABS it tends to go all wacky on me. So ABS ftl! Plus I know how to brake even in the rain and can generally have more of a controlled feel in a non-ABS car than ABS. But that's my own personal preference.

S14Tech

follow the hard-lines form your brake master cylinder across the engine bay... do the lines just disappear and go under the car or do they meet at a big boxy thing on the opposite side of the engine compartment? The boxy thing would be the ABS actuator thingie, which would be indicative of you having ABS.

personally I have to side with keeping abs under normal traffic driving just for the idiot factor of atl traffic. yes, a great driver doesn't need it ,but for zoning out in traffic i'd like to have it howver a switch to turn it off in spirited driving conditions would be nice.

i love ABS, and I can still brake drift with them...i dont understand why people say otherwise...
