Dude... it's super easy.

Install speed bleeders while you're at it.

I doubt anyone is going to want to do this for free... it's not just a swap, you have to bleed the brakes... it can take up a good part of an afternoon.

DIY HOMIE.

It's good experience for you... you own a 240 right? Get to know it... intimately.

Carnal knowledge of nuts, bolts, fluids, and grease...

Go at it, and if you fail, then ask for help.

---------- Post added at 09:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 AM ----------

^ That said... I can do it... have done it several times on my car... but no, I won't do it for free... sorry, I've got limited spare time... very limited. So I have to use it for really important things related to myself and the family and my own car project.

use google or better yet just take your wheel off and see how it works. its about as simple as it gets.

DUDE... just the pads?!

Come on.

It's 2 bolts. Literally.

And some very basic reverse engineering.

I didn't know how to do brake pads the first time I did mine.

Here's how.

1. Loosen lug nuts slightly.
2. Jack up car.
3. Remove lug nuts.
4. Remove wheel.
5. Locate slider bolts.
6. Remove them.
7. Lift caliper off the wheel.
8. Remove pads, note position of metal retaining clips or whatever they're called.
9. Follow steps 8-1 in that order, and reverse your actions.

Put some muscle behind it and if that dont work get a rubber mallet and tap the wrench while on the bolt. Just make sure u have the right size wrench or you can strip the bolt...

Some Wd-40 will also help loosen the bolt and dont forget to apply some of the little Brake pad grease tp the pads or it will screech like a B*tch when u hit the brakes * The lubricant goes between the plate and the back of the brake pad *

Or just flip the caliper up... no need to remove both bolts really... you can do it with one off.

---------- Post added at 06:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:48 PM ----------

I think they're 14mm bolts...

You're going to need... a long ratchet / breaker bar / PB Blaster perhaps...

And apply the principles of physics... make sure you're turning in the right direction as well...

Leverage is your friend... use it and the bolts WILL release.

I had a Northern car so I know seized bolts well... you can do it.

remember that the bolt is facing away from you so when youre looking at the caliper you turn the wrench clockwise to loosen it.and counter clockwise to tighten it.

I don't understand how someone can own a 240SX and not own tools.

Oh wait... you own a Kouki.

Well congrats...

I would recommend the $50 mechanics tool set at Sears.

It comes in real handy.

Also, where's your Dad?

This is a super easy job to do, you don’t need anyone. If you know how to turn a wrench the correct way then you can complete this job without any instructions. Plus its good to jump out there and get to know your car. Just two good tips when replacing pads: one, clean everything, thoroughly; and two, put antiseeze everywhere metal on metal touches (the front of the pads do not count) and nowhere else.

Now he will be confused and coat the face of the pads with anti-seize

You can buy a cheap 20 socket set from Auto zone and a wammer if needed and take those bolts off then take a pair of c clamps you can rent from autozone. and open up the caliper put on new pads and put back on. Might as well do the rotors while you are at it they slide right off on the front.

x2

This is how alot of things on my car are done, If I dont know how to do it from the start. Just take off your wheel, and look at what you need to take off, to get the caliper off the rotor, and then what needs to come off to get the pad out, then re-assemble with new pads. Alot of things on cars are self explanatory/like a puzzle. Better yet, look it up on google, should take you 45 seconds to find, and 20 mins to fallow dirrections and complete on 1 brake.

Your telling me, you have a 240, and are trying to work on it...without tools?

Do you not have a 14mm socket anywhere in your house? with a socket wrench??

Take some PB blaster, or some WD-40, spray the bolt, put your socket and socket wrench on the nut, find a metal pipe, somewhere that will slide over the handle of your socket wrench, tadaaa. I know you have a metal pipe laying around your house somewhere, or some pvc pipe or something.

It is self explanatory pretty much when you take the wheel off. Keep everything organized even though your only taking a couple things off. Make sure your caliper doesn't hang. Thats what I have learned is important.. its fairly easy you can do it!

You cannot use C-clamps on a 240SX.

The calipers are screw type. At least, all the S14 ones I've seen have been.

That will really screw up your caliper.

You need a "special" tool for that. It's a cube, with several different nub configurations on it. One of them works for compressing the piston.

BTW...

I did my rear brakes the other day, I think it took me about 40 minutes from start to finish, all cleaned up and tools put away like noting ever happened. I was ninja quick so I wouldn't get yelled at for doing car work in the Apartment complex.

I'll be doing front and rear caliper swap, rotors and pads and 5 lug swap in a week or so... assuming you haven't already done your pads I may be willing to help you out.

You can use a C clamp on the fronts, although you really dont need it to change pads. You dont even take the caliper off to change them, just flop the top up and change the pads out. That little box tool thing sucks balls though for the rear. I just use a pair of needle nose and rotate the piston in, fuck the box crap :)
