well i couldnt think of a good name but heres my problem.

someimes i go to strat my car and nothing happens, i turn key again and it will start but sounds wierd like it starts right up or it takes a crank or 2. so last nite im driving home after doing this and my CD player goes out and the lights start to fade. i stop @ home and decide i would get my battery tested 2day. well today i get up and go out to my car started up right away no problem, so i decided to get gas b4 i get the battery tested. well i getgas and then go to start the car and nothing. it was completly dead. so i called my bro he came gave me a jump and started up right away, so i call my dad explain everything to him he said to do an alternator test. so we start the car and remove the negative end and the car dies right away. so he said its def the alternator. so i let the battery charge off my bros car and drove it out to my dads shop. i get here (were im posting from) and i shut off the car then had to move it so i started the car came right on. i pull into the garage and we try the test again, but this time the car keeps running like it should. so....... i have no clue, my dad i think is on his way to check it out. now i read that if your 240 doesnt start on the 1st key turn that it could be the Ignition Switch. but i dont know does any one have ne ideas that i could have overlooked. now my dad is a master mechanic, but idk if he knows everything about 240s or if there is something special or differnet about them. ne way thats my problem ne help is appreciated. o and the starting issues have been like that for a few weeks, i just never thought anything about it, until i read about the ignition thing, which was afew days ago

Check alternator grounds. If your car does not run with the battery disconnected, then there is most definetly something wrong with the Alt.

As Tyler said. Rusty ground could cause you engine stall too (when battery disconnected)

Definitely a charging problem. If it was an ignition problem, it would not effect the CD player/lights/etc...could be a loose connection, or just the diodes in the alternator going out.

Hope that helps, let me know if you needme to check a price on an alternator. :)
