Monday:
here we are testing out a new turbo sponsored by Forced Performance with their 20G mitsubishi turbo.
little to no mods to bolt this up the sr20det motor
non-ball bearing
using a completely stock sr20det
only with BC stage 2 cams and injectors.
no springs/no retainers
stock head gasket/studs.
FMIC
only at 17 lbs of boost with A/F around 11:1
note:
these turbos lives around 14 psi to 32 psi, for all you mitsu fans already know this.
boost will be turned up and tested when new head gasket/studs and supporting mods is done. turbo is known to live at 1.7 to 2.1 bars.
i am confident we should see around 430-470 whp zone with insane power band.
notice the boost curve upwards, and the A/F

Wow.. thats really nice.
Kudos to you!
I want to see how it performs/lasts.

20g turbos are nice even though they aren't ball bearing. NO BALLS lol. but yeah...good numbers!
I saw that turbo on a zilvia group buy for like $900. i'm impressed. those are some great numbers.

yup.
thats hella cheap option comparing it to a gt30r and some other turbos...and it will make more once when get the next number on. this was a stock motor with small cams..
it should be alot crazier. i love the 4G63's and the Mitsu Turbos. and yeah, we ve gotten some pretty awesome results.
the characteristics of the SR20DET is different and there are more similiar but costly options with the Greddy turbos etc. so this was a good opportunity to try out their dependability, power, response...etc.
the power you see was achieved so easily.
What size injectors are you guys running?

these are the 740's.
its by no means for the normal daily driver to be dependable
(turbo/motor config).
you need some basic to advance level of motor upgrades/ tuning to use this turbo within its means of efficiency.
we are currently using it at its very bottom of efficiency because we assume the motors health has to be refreshed and the constraint of time. we wanted to test to see how it did at that level.
you will see more of the turbo numbers in time to come.
if you need help with a setup that you are interested in and you think we can help, dont be a stranger to stop by. we will get you the numbers you want we some planning and calculations.

should be around 1000 or less with the group buy or something. you need steel braided lines, (taka lines) and a an3 banjo fitting.
good street boost level for that turbo is around 18-25 psi.

Good spool and power for the low psi. Interesting setup, I don't think I have ever seen that turbo on an SR before.
Kudos for being different.

i think the only thing sexier than the motor is the car that its in! sam's new drift car is the shit.

Wow nice numbers and powerband. 20Gs are amazing turbos and cheap to rebuild if you accidentally blow it. Also you can run them just oil fed instead of oil/coolant like BBs. FP makes amazing stuff I thought about their 3065 when I get another DSM down the road I wonder how it'd do on an SR

i would assume you could, but i wouldnt recommend it. sinced its oil and h2o cooled, the chambers has been altered. their first initial design was just oil cooled since its non ball bearing. but last minute change made and here it is.
you can call them ask and tell them i referred you to them, and ask them if they still had the oil cooled only design for sale. or if its recommended to run both the h20 or optional.
why wouldnt you want to run h20 also? since given the option?
so far, the turbo has been great. the car is even faster now since boost was turned up alittle and a few mods have been made to the drivetrain.
Car should run 11's with street tires no problem.
