went to the dyno on monday.
mods:
stock intake manifold
stock turbo manifold
stock bottom end
stock fuel rail
stock radiator
stock ignition
with A/C ...lol

supporting mods:
headgasket/studs
ebay intercooler
cams 256 tomei
BC springs & retainer
slight head tuned: port/flow tuning equate by Tiger Racing
fuel pump
injectors
powerFC
Garrett GT2871 .64 housing
set below 21 lbs of boost

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f369/redempire16/180sxdynorun.jpg

pretty decent.
didnt go to aggressive due to lack of mods.
should be good. gear ratio's and suspensions have been modified.
should be pretty fast and suitable for this weekend track configuration.
turbo and motor made over 400whp with some teens, but detuned for drift configurations and lack of supporting mods.

set at 1.3 bar spiked to 1.5 bar and drops steady at 1.3 bar
396 whp
370 tq
a/f about 11.3 V

Aww, no more 1.7 bars? :-D Did you ever get the waste gate adjusted right?

v-empire
09-12-2007, 04:05 PM
yes. at 1.7 there is a risk of center cartridge vibration and failure, common for the garrett turbos characteristic for that trim.

MITSUBISHI TURBO FTW!!!!

on top of that, its tuned for dependability and gearing, drift style driving, speed variables.
thing is fast as hell on accel. couldnt hold it down on second and third yesterday during testing coming down the road that we were on. tire and chassis lifts up and looses traction. suspension tuning and tires need to be changed.
few more adjustments before NOPI.

@4500rpm. we are at 350 tq with 300 whp.
@5500 we are at about 400whp not too shabby

low end torque look pretty good

v-empire
09-12-2007, 05:08 PM
yes.
we started with a gt35r, then to a gt30r, then to a t3/t4 ball bearing hybrid, then to a GT2835.
through out the years, we tried to move to simplicity and maximize power and reliability with some math.

this car now has the infamous GT2871 with a small 0.64 turbo housing.

works great for the track we do, and the power band.

the head tuning and sitting down doing our calculations and equations before deciding mods, price, head flow, cam and valve durations, rpms, gearing, application of power band, style of driving, etc .... really helped.

accelleration is crazy fast from the get go. must tune traction for tires and suspension more.

we lack on aero. but Nopi Drift tracks are pretty slow and tandem is even slower.
in comparitive to other standards of drift courses. its by no means super slow but you understand.
so it should be OK.
hopefully.

this weekend is gonna be interesting.

torque curve from 4000 to 6500 insanely flat for this power.
this going to be monster drift car. I demand pics.

09-12-2007, 07:39 PM
are you getting vanity mirrors welded to your cage so you can see yourself driving from all angles to make sure you're staying fresh?

v-empire
09-12-2007, 07:42 PM
no. vanity mirrors cost too much.

i use orbits.

no matthhher hhuwaat.

ps..i was actually looking at some mirrors right this second....lol

getting gussetts installed.

s15 spec r turbo, 555cc injectors, z32 maf, boost controller, afc, and a tune. does that sound right?

that's just kinda the basics.

v-empire
09-12-2007, 08:23 PM
that should do it.

i opt for a stanalone for more reliability.

850cc.

duty cycle nevertheless is way below max.

where is bigger IC ?
fuel pump ?

the bigger ic is mounted on the front of the car, and the upgraded fuel pump is in the gas tank.

haha, but seriously, i didn't even think to mention those because it seems like almost everyone that does an sr swap scraps the smic for an upgraded fmic.

and for the fuel pump, any swap done right should include swapping out the stock fuel pump for an upgraded fuel pump (z32, walbro, etc.).

thats the same setup im doing... how much for that headwork and a tune?

head work is done in house.
labor for that is about 350-600. depending on what your goal is. we need specs and detailed parts that you will be using for your application.
We have gotten pretty good with the accuracy and the style of ports for different applications.

tuning is 250 and up depending of the number of hours. its by no means a cheap expenditure, but with the time and experience we feel its worth the money that people get.

i am very happy with the results on this motor. it was achieve very easily with our head tuning and calculations.
i would like to see it fine tuned a little differently, but this seems to be decent for the drift car and smaller track.

i ve read on different forums and feedback from other gt2871 users that they are having problems getting that much power, let alone we are running the AFR rich like that. with a more lean AFR, we got quite alot more power out of it.

when we were researching the turbo specs, it seemed that alot of users werent maximizing the efficiency of the turbo with their supporting mods.
so we calculated and decided to use as much stock stuff as possible with the air flow, stock manifolds, smaller cams...etc and just mess around with the head flow and smoothness. bigger doesnt mean better, its applied efficiency and math.

it worked despite, some of our variables didnt quite make sense that it should.
maybe we got lucky again?
i wanna see more mods done to it , like aftermarket manifolds, and see how it affects the numbers and range.

i have another dyno graph, same motor similar specs, that i have no permission to release,
but it made 350tq by 3k rpm and smooth on a smaller turbo.

tuned on a dyno jet.

nice number dave

thank you hector. you are a sexy man.

Wait, you bought A's old 180?!?!

v-empire
09-14-2007, 04:34 PM
i m not that smart. i f i was smart. i wouldnt be doing something else.

lol..... you will get there. if you pay someone to do it, you would be done. i wold pay someone at this stage for most installs coz my time if worth else where.

but, by doing this, you would be learning alot and its an experience you go through. your opinions will change on alot of things, and you will understand alot more. i hope this is the first to many in time to come. you will appreciate it when you look back one day.

good luck and dont give up.

You are definately very smart. You do what you enjoy right?

I will never know as much as you though.

'm glad I am doin my own work. I have learned a lot! I'm def not giving up. I'll be workin on it tomorrow morning and hopefully I'll get it done. I wont be calling you all day with questions again because i know you'll be busy, but I'll let you know if I get it running.

v-empire
09-14-2007, 04:47 PM
thanks,well those are kind words.
if you want to go out with me, just ask. dont be afraid of rejection.
i ll be there to help you get it running after nopi this weekend. hopefully you have it all figured out.

i would be a porn star if i was smarter.

car did very well this weekend.
dependable.
the BOV decided to take a poo poo and was surging and wasnt very steady, very very strange.... but anyhow, we got it to keep idling and the car made it on time at every pass.

wish we had better results but oh well...... we had tons of fun.
