View Full Version : R33 calipers clearance
I bought R33 rotors and calipers and I have realized I might have a problem when it comes to buying wheels with low offset with clearance. I was thinking SportMax 002 because they come in 0 offest but I can't find anyone with these rims and calipers. The caliper size is 324mm.
What other rims will fit R33 calipers?

I bought me some mustang saleen replica wheels to clear my calipers
Yeah I was thinking Cobra but I'm not sure on the offset

are you going 5 lug?
Im pretty sure the R33 brakes are the same as Z32 brakes.

yeah basically. but rotors are about 2mm bigger, i think.
Im pretty sure the R33 brakes are the same as Z32 brakes. The Z32 are a bit smaller if I'm not mistaken
Viper: Yeah 'm still 5 lug. I just found some cobra r's 17X9 with -45 but now I need to see how heavy they are when I compare them to se rims which are 18lbs. old rims were heavy and my car couldn't get sideways at all.

r33 brakes and z32 brakes are the same eddie. therefore, r33 wheels and z32 wheels are interchangable. problem solved.

rotors should be 32mm
caliper a little larger to compensate.

im really confused.
you ARE 5 lug or are you 4 lug...
if youre 5 lug. s14 se wheels fit over z32 brakes. perfect fit actually.
17x9 -45?
are you sure you dont mean +45?
and 17x9+45 is going to slam into your coilovers / shocks
r33 brakes and z32 brakes are the same eddie. therefore, r33 wheels and z32 wheels are interchangable. problem solved.Who are you?
Viper: I'm still 5 lug sorry for the confusion. The rims are pretty heavy they're 25lbs each. Do you have a problem with rub? Any spacers?

im so confused....
i have drifting mustangs old 17x9 cobra r's
they are 17x9+26 and they are literally 1mm away from my coilovers. ive got 255 40 17's on them and they are so close to rubbing its not even funny lol.
---------- Post added at 05:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:28 PM ----------
and yes, the rims are heavy. id say wheel and tire. compared to my s14 se wheels. its a big difference.
like 10 pounds.
although ive felt heavier wheels before lol.

Where's the confusion? I'm staying 5 lug. I'm wondering what rims could fit the R33 calipers. Cobra rims seems to be pretty good but I had some bad rub with my last rims and they were 225/24/17's
I don't remember you sean but OK just calling it how it was/is.

would you say that sounds like a smart assumption?

eddie. how many times do i need to tell you?
skyline brakes will fit inside skyline wheels! simple right? skyline factory wheels and factory brakes will mesh together just fine.

here eddie. these will work!

they are factory r33 wheels.... 17 x 9
Why dont you just mount one caliper up and slide a wheel on and see what happens?
Shit.

I would like spokes but I'm still looking around.

r32/r33/z32 calipers and rotors are the same. you will need a minimum 16" wheel with a 35 or better offset. r32/r33 gt-r calipers (non-brembo) are different bc they use a 12.75" rotor versus the 11" rotors. this brake setup requires 17" wheels or larger r34 brembo will require 18" or larger. from my personal experience, most ppl use 19" wheels bc alot of 18" wheels didnt clear them

ok well just look and measure them. 11.5"or 11.75" will clear z32 wheels. if the rotor diameter is 12.75" those are gt-r/g35 rotors. if you need z32 wheels with tires, i have some for sale in my sig. price is negotiable
most aftermarket wheels will fit... lol
just dont buy meshies or somethingI'm not too sure about that. I've seen some people have the same problem as myself. If I knew these people I wouldn't make a post about it.
Mesh on S14's...no

none of this is true in every situation. lol....
first off, there are 4 different kinds of z32 caliper.
26mm iron
26mm aluminum
30mm iron
30mm aluminum
from the looks of it, he has the r33 calipers and rotors.
yes, he needs atleast 16's to clear them. but the offset is not directly related to brake fitment.
you could have a 0 offset wheel that wouldnt clear z brakes at all just becuase the spacing behind the spokes isnt deep enough.
subu, if youre already 5 lug, and have the brakes sitting around. mount a caliper and rotor and slide an s14 se wheel on and see if it clears.
good. so what wheels fit?I have GT-S type so I need 16" with 35 offset or better.
Viper: I've been 5 lug forever. Do you still think I have that red coupe? lol

there are different thicknesses to the caliper-26mm and 30mm. iron and aluminum. i think everyone on this whole forum knows that. that applies to the caliper. what is his concern here right now bc he is saying "skyline" is the size of his rotor. calipers are the same but rotors are different. i dont know the diameter in mm but he is either going to have a~11" or a ~12.75" rotor diameter. all z32 and r32 use the same ~11" rotor. r33 calipers can be adapted to the z32 rotor for a drop in swap if he was to use the 12.75" rotor to put the full potential of his calipers to use, he may need an adapter. im not sure on that for a 240 but on a z32 (i do it all the time) we upgrade our rotors to either r33/z33 track (brembo) rotors that are12.75" to have more effective stopping power. one last thing: - 26mm calipers only came from 1990 z32 n/a - 30mm calipers came for all skylines and 1991 up z32 - z32 did not have a specific year make for alum. or iron, you just have to check with a magnet (not 100% sure. i only say this bc i had a 95 n/a with iron calipers) -all skylines use aluminum calipers

Just saying... But you could of had these brakes a long time ago.....
But anyways, you don't need anything special. To clear all confusion, R33 brakes are bigger than Z32. I don't know why everyone always thinks they're the same?
Almost all rims clear them. And if you buy something that doesn't, nothing a 5mm spacer wouldn't fix. Not too hard man. You over think and shut down yourself before you get started.

s14 SE wheels. i really wasnt reading the last posts.
The rotors are being resurfaced right now so when I get them back I'll see if they clear. My friend just found out that his neighbor is selling some r33 rims for 1k and they are polished. What are the chances...
White pony: Yeah when I keep buying shit for my car I always think "I could of bought that S13...oh well" I guess it's good that I didn't I'm learning a lot. Thanks for clearing that up I thought they were bigger.
