So i went to swap out the head unit in my s13 yesterday and come to find out the guy that had the car before me chopped the plugs. So, this was going to be a temporary head unit so I just decided to match exactly what he had before. I wrote down what every wire was connected to from the plug to the harness. Got everything wired up good and taped, plugged up the head unit and nothing happens, went back and checked every connection like 3 times and had other people check them. Even checked power at the plug and had a good strong 12v. I thought maybe the head unit or something had gone bad since its like 3 years old and hasn't been used in a while so I even went a bought a new one today, got home wired in the new plug to a known source of power and a good chassis ground and still nothing!! I don't know at all what is happening. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated, I have tried and checked everything I know to and still nothing!!! Do I have to have the plugs, idk why this would matter cause the other one was wired straight into the harness and worked. Im stumped......help!!

find a 12v switched power
find a big black ground

find the 4 groups of wires for the speakers
they are usually twisted somewhat together in pairs of 2 wires a braid.

dig out the antaenna wire

connect everything up...

if you did it correctly it works

you proabably have a yellow wire on your aftermarket harness
power

a black wire
ground

another wire you'll have no clue about when everything is connected
keep alive memory (constant power)

8 more wires colored somewhat similarly
speakers

if nothing else, bring it to me and i can take a look at it.

send me a pm if you need help

pictures help me too

Get a multi-meter and check for your constant 12V+. That should connect to the yellow wire on your cd player. Then, find the wire that supplies 12V+ when you turn your key (acc/on), but turns off when you turn the switch to the off position. That's the red wire on your cd player. Black is ground. I'd unhook everything else, sort of labeling as I went. After you get power, then start hooking up your speakers one by one. I usually leave the radio on, laying in the passenger's seat or lap while I do the speaker connections. If you do it that way, don't let any wires touch, or you'll get a new fuse.

The Antenna grounds the entire head unit. Be sure it is connected and if you still have no power try running a ground to the antenna input on the head unit, the outside edge of the plug is the ground. Also, check your fuses.
