Long story short...Killswitch is the bomb-diggity. I've had my 240 for a couple years now, DD'ed it 68 miles round trip for a year and a half. Never had an issue, never broke down, never stranded on the side of the road. Then I switched jobs and got a truck so the 240 became my weekend warrrior. After I started treating it nice, the problems came... Shearing wheel studs ( after 18 years I guess they became weak... lame) with regularity. Went through a couple manifolds (shearing studs) and 3 or 4 turbos, the last time one blew was last year. Sat in my garage for a couple months before I replaced the turbo, drove it for a day and then the motor spun a bearing, apparently from a oil pump failure. Couple months later I hauled it down to Killswitch, dropped it off and left it in their hands. Some of you that have been by the shop know that my car has been there for quite a while.
FYI: That was never an issue with me, when I dropped the car off I told them to take their time and work on it whenever. I was in no hurry. The car already hadn't run 5-6 months before I brought it down. But I digest...
At one point I had to tell Tyler to hold up on fixing it because my daughter started having seizures again and the $36,000 hospital bill set me back... Hell, it still is. But anyway, for about a month, maybe more, work was halted on the car by my request. Wasn't charged a storage fee or given any bullshit about it that some other shops might pull. Fast forward to now, picked up the car last night. Tyler met me after hours so I could pick it up. Showed me what was done, he even fixed some the shit I had hooked up wrong. Drove it home, ran like a dream. Today I went to run to the store, car started spitting and sputtering and died about a mile from my house. I called Tyler let him know what happened, he (and Carina) immediately drove to where I live (Bethlehem) and troubleshot the problem down to a relay that after 18 years of being in a 240 decided to end it's life. Helped me get it back to my house, and offered the parts to fix what went wrong.
Let me be clear... In no way did rebuilding my motor did they ever touch the relay nor the box it was in, they didn't have to. It's an 18 year old car, shit happens. But it was refreshing to see someone that takes pride in his work. Genuinely cares about about his customers, and went out of his way to help for something that after the problem was found, he had no liability for. But he's helping to fix it anyway.
Anyway to recap:
Car has motor rebuilt
Car drives better than I ever remembered
Next day a relay blows, shutting the car down on the side of the road.
I call the Killswitch Roadside Assistance program
Problem solved
Tyler and Carina have earned my business and respect and I will be seeing them soon about adding some of the endless array of parts I have stuffed in garage (yes Tyler there was a lot more parts stuffed in other crates).
I will continue to recommend them to anyone.
