I just got another 240SX about 30 minutes ago, I should stress the word project...

My question:

I have to start the car with a screwdriver (I know what you're thinking but no, I have the title, it was going to be scraped and someone lost the key).

How and where do I go about getting a key set made for my car? I cannot afford to keep a window rolled down to get in my car where I live so I need something done asap. Thanks.

Dude you gotta keep it like that so when you have it valet parked you can hand the guy a screwdriver!

Go to nissan and see if you can order a new ignition with key. I know ford will do that for their cars.

Well, it'd be very hard to get matching ignition and door lock cylinders, unless from Nissan. You could probably just find a car in a junkyard if it still has the key, and use that, then get seperate keys made for your doors. Yeah, it'd be a royal PITA, but it's better than a screwdriver. ;)

with my cressida I just had to get some # off the door lock cylinder. dont know if nissan does it the same or not. See if a friends key will work on it haha. I know of 2 peoples keys that started and opened my car. Nissan was awesome w keys apparently eh? FYI get another form of theft deterence people.

Okay, I'll call them tomorrow. I know a friend had to get a key made through Honda but jesus it took forever.

Nissan cant make a key for a car older than 94, I beleive thats the cut off. I bent the key to my hatch, and called them to cut me a new one, and the guy in parts told me I was pretty much SOL, but he gave me a number to a locksmith shop, and they hooked me up.

Weld the doors shut. Make a hole on the bottom of you vehicle and put a hatch there. It's the easiest way to insure your cars safety.

That's the info I needed. ;)

Thanks bud.

Update: Turns out there is a "key code" in the glove box of our cars, take it to a locksmith and they will cut you a key off that for $45, sweet!

aww, i was going to tell you to keep it from getting stolen, just pop the hood, and remove a spark plug wire. then you just have to worry about your interior. but your getting a new key cut, so oh well.
