Congrats to Ron Ewerth on the win!!!!!!! Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped out. We can't do it without you. Thanks to all of the drivers for coming out and supporting drifting. Thanks to the spectators who came out and tried :)

I have been reading some of the comments, so I figured I should jump in and we should discuss :)

An event is only as big as the people who show up. Based on our past event turnout, this should have been a HUGE event. The main problem was that every track in the SE had an event scheduled this day (we scheduled our event in January and could not move it or else we would have). RA and Spartanburg being the biggest draw from our turnout. That being said, we did have 30 drivers.

Next, at every one of our other events everyone gets 20-30 runs in before qualifying. I apologize that was not the case at this event. I was not there but was told everyone got 14 practice runs and 2 qualifying runs. We get tons of feedback from our drivers and a lot of the Atlanta drivers were asking for a 3rd gear course...so we tried to accommodate. AMS is really the only place in a 100 mile radius for us to do this. The amount of runs you get has a lot to do with the skill level of the driver pool (the more spinners the less seat-time) and the length and design of the course. This was a LONG and FAST course. We had to wait for each driver to completely exit the course before we could start another.

Next, we worked since last year to get this venue. We jumped through hoops for 6 months to get this event situated with them. The only way we could have the event is if we complied with the way they set it up for us (which was a tad bit unorganized and we had to pick up a lot of slack in the morning thus making us run behind). So, that's why the spectators had to be where they were. If you want shade, you ALWAYS need to bring it yourself. That's just the way it is at MOST events (ALL that I have ever attended).

Lastly, The venue is extremely expensive and they require $5mil in insurance where as every other facility only requires $1mil. Thus the price we had to charge. If it make any of you feel better, I travel the country drifting and last weekend I got 9 runs including qualifying at an event that I had to travel to that cost $150. It happens sometimes. We try to give out as many runs as we can. This event was an exception as to how our events usually go. All I can do is try to make it better next time and hope that more people show up. In order to be sure this happens, we will not hosts events when it is so hot out. We will also schedule events like this closer to the off season to ensure that we won't be competing with other events in the SE.

I am hoping that next year we will have sponsors for the series. The more sponsors we have the less we have to charge. That is our goal. Right now we come out of pocket for everything. We don't make money from this guys (in fact we lost several thousand dollars on this one)....we do it so you can drive :) So thanks for the support. It's no roll in the hay for us to do these events. They are hard to get together and even harder to run. I don't expect you to understand that, but we try as hard as we can to have fun events with lots of seat time. I hope to see you guys getting sideways in the future.

If you have any suggestions, please add them. I will either give you a reason why we can't do it...or I will try to make it happen if it is possible :)

This was the first event that I've participated in so I don't have a lot to compare it with. I have however been to quite a few and spectated...

For my first event this one was awesome. Before this event I had never even had a chance to drift in third so I'm really glad you guys were able to pull off such a fast course!!!

The track was kind of wide and geared slightly more for cars with power (i have none) which made it slightly more difficult for people like myself. I wouldn't say change it just for those without power since most everyone out there had enough power to make it around...

I heard from a lot of the spectators that they didn't really have much of a view from the top and that there weren't many spots to get good pictures... I had most of my friends come down to our tents which was a lot better. I know you had trouble with getting everything set up the way you planned. Any ideas on how we can make it better for the spectators next time?

I really liked how you guys had the staging zone set up. Not having to keep moving our cars up was really nice. We could stand around and chat until it was our turn to go. It also make it difficult for people to sneak in from other run groups and such...

Thanks for hosting the event!!!

For us participants and spectators is there anything we can do to help you put on a better event?

as a driver, i loved it. i would much rather have a 3rd gear/70+ mph course and only get 10-15 runs than have a slow 2nd gear one and get 30. just like tracy said, in the "pro" stuff we run, it's not uncommon to get waaaaay less runs than that (there have been nopi events where i only got 5 practice runs before going into qualifying, and that's with $150 entry fees and driving hours and hours across the country for them as well).

i also agree with flip on liking the starting setup. it may have been a touch slower that way, but it's so much nicer to be able to park and get out for a few minutes instead of sitting in a hot car and gradually moving up in a line (or getting out and pushing it).

overall, lots of fun and i am totally in for another AMS one again.

The only way around the spectator problem at this point in time is to get $25k in concrete barriers. We won't be able to afford the event in this case :) The only solution right now is sponsors. other than that, we can all drive to Cordele Speedway and drift for cheap....just 2 hours away.

Oh and Cody, you were at the Lookout Drift event last weekend where we got 9 runs at an amateur event :) for $150

My Only issue with the event was being allowed to des stage all day long, aboutl twenty feet from the line. and them not being allowed to deep stage for the qualifying. i loved the course. hitting eighty and them flicking it sideways is always a blast. i can't wait for the event in nashville. thank you so much tracy and the rest of nopi drift for hosting such an awesome event! xoxo

I'm not sure what you are talking about. I wasn't by the start all day and I left early. I will talk to the boys about it though and try to address it.

Just so you know, NOPI has nothing to do with our series. They simply take the drivers we recommend :) I like to say that so no one mixes up issues they have with either of us.

Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you had a good time :goodjob:

Lastly, I meant to say this before about the track set up. Most would be upset if they spent $150 and had a slow, small course. That's why the course was set up the way it was. We try to base our prices not only on what it costs us, but what people get for their money. I think most would expect to pay a bit more for a long fast course. Hope that made sense.
