Ill make this short and simple,
Say I were to pull a ca18de out of a pulsar and turbo it... would the internals be as strong as the internals of the JDM ca18det? I know there are a few differences between the two motors, but in the long run would it hold up to say 15 or so lbs of boost?
the reason i ask is because the ca18de is more readily available and cheaper that the det
thanks all.

I really doubt it. Just like the sr20 that came in us cars has a completely different bottom end.

The Ca18de-det is a lot like the RB series engines. Except it has two less cylinders.

How cheap have you guys seen the det's going for? all i need is an engine, ecu, harness.....i dont need the tranny as my s12 already has a C series engine.

there is no way that nobody knows anything about the availability of these engines. its such a common swap, there should be a few on this site.

i don't know why you would do such a thing though. CA's are cheap as hell straight outta fry lice land. 1200 or so to your door... and i would not think so. it was not the case as i remember like the Sr's here
i'm refering to the FWD Sr's not those wierd RWD things. CA18DET > SR :D
when you have money in hand i will hook you up with a buddy of mines number thats a dealer. but not til you got green to flash no point in wasting either of our times

$1200 is cheap?
I dunno about you, but $1200 for a 20+ yr old motorset is pretty fkin expensive to me.
Anyhow.. More than likely different bottom ends.
Try cross-referencing @ Nissan parts dept.
That'd be your best bet!

1200 is cheap as hell considering most people pay 1600+ for their SR's (insert rolling eyes here) cause with all that money i wasted on the SR i can afford a tubular manifold and a boost controller :D

1200 is expensive compared to the 300 I would spend on getting a wrecked pulsar out of a junkyard, or an auction. being 17, money is hard to make quickly, ao any saving up will take a lot of time.
