so, the common misconception of these guys, just get one and pop it on, you'll be good, as long as it makes noise.
Eh. kinda, if your the guy that is all about the woosh or chirp, and dont care of what they are good for, no need to read anymore.
Ebay (cheapo) anything generally under 40 bucks on there.
These have TERRIBLE spring ratings and a metal to metal seal.. What is the point?
Psi Rating (0-2 psi) and will still leak like crazy.
Turbo XS RFL - I'm sure some of you may have this one, and swear by it, but i had this bad boy pressure tested. you may not feel it, but she leaks, and gets gradually worse and worse (they give you washers to make it seat better??) Its also a metal to metal seal, like the EBAY blow off valve . I would not reccomend anything over 12psi on this blow off valve (any t28 or larger turbo) It just wont cut it.. sure its louds as all, but its not the point, you just want an accurate release, and it to hold pressure. (i dont reccoment it at all.
SSQV - Chirp CHIRP CHirp. It may get annoying, but this bad boy can hold some boost, i've seen them run up to 34 psi on a twin 20G stealth and hold down. Alot of people run these on a sequential blow off setup, (they are very precise on the spring tension and all), slowly had seeping at 30psi, but not much.
Greddy type RS - Installed one of these on a friends car, Very adjustable to say the least (set her too loose when i put it on) great sound WOOSH and deffinately can hold the pressure with the adjustments. The spring is a tad weaker than in the type-S and the sound is much different, but i'd say it would probably hold in the lower 20's range. Has a GREAT rubber seal.
Greddy Type-s - Was and is the competition for the SSQV (not the ebay brand, the seal is a bit different) I love mine, and have run her up to 19psi and i'm positive she's capable of much more. very reliable and have had no seal or wear troubles out of it completly.
Sard RACING blow off valve - Terrible from what i've seen, i've heard people preach them and people hate them, i first person saw this create some of the worst surging ever, and then leaking like crazy (i dont know how it accomplished both oh so well on the same setting.) i do not reccomend it, but its brother is a different story.
Sard r2d2 - This blow off valve has one of the CRAZIEST seals i have EVER seen. It will hold pretty much whatever you throw at it, and then some, the only quarrel i have with the blow off valve is the outlet is a tad small for the dynamics of the air. wich i havent seen create any flow problems, but i'm questionable on it.
Thats all for now, i can update the list as i run into more.
I know its probably useless, but i like just putting stuff in for people to gander at.
Dont hate me on any of this, all of this is first hand experience, if your's has differed, let me know, so i can update it!
