Mods STICKY???

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types.

Zero Offset

The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.

Positive

The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars.

Negative

The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centerline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically a negative offset.

If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be adversely affected. When the width of the wheel changes, the offset also changes numerically. If the offset were to stay the same while you added width, the additional width would be split evenly between the inside and outside. For most cars, this won't work correctly.

all wheels were 15x6.5 or 16x6.5 with +42e.t.

funny thing is though..
these calculations really mean squat once you lower the car and camber takes place.

youd have to take into calculation how "x" amount of camber would take away/add "y" amount of overall protrusion from the norm.

ah mk sweet.

well lower the car to what you want and then measure how much clearance you have in there with the stock wheels.
then hitup the offset calculator and see if what you want will tuck :)

that works too.
lol

i dunno.
most 240 owners are younger population.

usually we're on a low-low budget.
or.. people take their cars to shops.

then they dont need this information. lol.

yea im young, but i no wat im doing (for the most part) and i dont take my car to the shop unless i have to...

btw im getting 5Zigen FN01R-C's 17 x 10 +12 (silver) all around..

will this be a good size on my s14? and what size tires should i get? what would be streched and look good?

17x10 on the front are going to requre major pulling on stock fenders or widebody fenders.

you wnt be able to run square tires, tahts for sure.

lots of people run somewhere around 215/45 and 235/40 on those sizes..
it all varies.. but if you look on zilvia.net, you'll get the basic idea of what you'd have to do!

Should i get 17 x 8 in the front? they have that size

babowc
08-12-2007, 03:15 AM
go for 17x9 and 17x10..
i think thats the most common setup there is.

17x10, theres a couple guys running that upfront on s14s w/ FNs, but like i said, it'll require alot of work.

Banzai

will 17 x 9 require pulled fenders? or just rolled? i think im going to pull the back fenders so it looks sick as hell

babowc
08-12-2007, 04:00 AM
probably rolled only for the front
17x10 on rears will more than likely requre pulling and rolling.

Casey
08-12-2007, 04:08 AM
yeah s14's have alot of room up front.
and the rear is gonna need to be rolled
becareful what offset you get for 10's in the rear...
you dont want em whacking your struts

im going with 18's 10.5 in the rear and 9.5 in the front
and i fully expect to have to lift my car up higher, roll the fenders then pull the rears lol
MAYBE have to go overfenders and front widebody panels...
if i do that then ill be painting them champagne. lmao
first widebody champagne 240? lmfao
