View Full Version : Car twisting on accel/decel

Basically when I'm going down the road and i hit the gas, the whole car kinda twists up one way (one side of rear end lifts and the car wants to turn a tad to one direction) then when i let off of the gas the oppisite happens. Theres not really any poping noises or anything the car just moves off kilter then back...

I'm kinda guessing a busted either a bushing or something similar in the rear but has anyone else had this happen and know where to look before i put the car up in the air?

I drifted the car pretty hard just before i noticed the problem so its likely that i roughed it up a little...

Thats what I'm thinkin too... Someone posted this from another nissan forum and said that it might be the alignment affecting the thrust angle:

I'm leaning more torward bushings since I didn't hit anything :).

Clutch is done! It's much better now as far as that goes... its still a stock clutch so it doesn't have crazy bite or anything but it doesn't slip when going up hills and stuff now :)

I put the car up on the lift today and it looks like its the rear right subframe bushing and one of the main bushings in the front left suspension of the car... I'm pretty sure this is causing my problems and makign the car feel really loose...

I plan on getting a full set of poly bushings including subframe inserts...

The probelm is showing up once again. Anyone had this happen before?

I've also noticed my diff start clunking again and thats about when the problem returned. I'm starting to think that since the diff is loose again... The probelm was worse before I got my diff welded, then it pretty much went away. There was no more clunking (loose diff) and no more turning on acceleration.

It almost seems like the problem (turning on accel) will be there, then i slide and something pops into place and it goes away.

I've removed and/or replaced every suspension part on the car. Every bushing and mount is new as well...

Ideas?

hey flip. i already told you what i thought about it, do you still think its the same issue? let me know if you change it out and that it helps, i am pretty sure thats the issue.

not pointing out anybody but in general, and since we are here on suspension upgrades..........
members shouldnt take alot of considerations from forum chat rooms.
there are a few people here with good experiences with competition, and because they are doing it, they will give you better creditible feedback.

best mod is more seat time on the track and at competition. then start messing around changing stuff to your liking, at that point you dont even have to ask, you already know what to change coz its your car, you know the dynamics already and you know your driving.

stop modding and start driving. i ve modded and then driven before too.....should have listen to my mom :(

not trying to promote any events or host personels, but there are a bunch in atlanta area, Digitrials, drift fury, nopi events are close sometimes and other private events. go out and find them. be hardcore, travel and race.

good luck.

ps: while you are down there, check your entire sway bar assembly and diff bolts.

Check for play in the rear end. Jack up the car. Apply parking brake. Put tranny in neutral, and see if there is alot of give in the drive shaft.

The clunking and push of the car going around a corner is from your welded diff. You don't have to be going fast with one to put a lot of strain on your suspension components. Make sure everything is tight as well.

My car used to do the exact same thing but it was because i had a 2way and 2 different sized tires in the rear... i dunno if that would be the case but thats what my problem was

Come to think of it i might have 2 diff size tires on the back :-o. Forgot abotu that... Blew a tire the other day and threw a spare wheel on there. I was just baffled as to why i twould do it one moment then not the next...

I checked and theyre both 205's... I'm thinking that even if there were two different size tires that it would make the chirp but shouldn't make the clunk...

Are both tires the same height? That still sounds it's a problem.

something always bound to give with your setup if you are not racing it. we have had customers and friends with bolts coming loose at the subframe and axles area, and diff bushings...etc..may look normal but they may be busted already..check periodically.....it was never always the same spot...good luck.

I checked over everything... All bolts tight, bushings fine, etc... I put the ebrake up, repeatedly let out the clutch a little to make the thunk nouse and heard it coming from the diff... I think a bearing may have gone bad in it or the shims have been beat up and are loose now... I'm going to check the tollerances and I'll let everyone know what I find...
