Well it's official the motor sports park in Dawsonville has been approved as of 7:20 tonight. I'm not sure when they plan on starting construction but it has to be within 18 months of approval and construction has to be complete within 48 months of the start time. Just trying to keep every one updated.

Hopefully I'll be making enough money in two years to open up a drift track to compete against this drift track.

from what the website says, it seems like youd be able to rent out the park..and the track can be split up to 3 different courses running simultaneously.. i smell some serious track time once it opens

don't be so negative; they very well could. charge a little xtra for drifting, make a little profit. it's all business.

Jorgen
04-15-2009, 04:41 PM
what kind of track is it going to be anyways?
like an autoX or what?
drifting is a motor sport, so they would be really stupid to turn us away.
thats like saying your money is no good.

Wait until they find out their BRAND NEW asphalt might get torn up. Or their curbing will get chewed up from off-course excursions. Or even the landscaping bill from cars tearing up the grass.

We will see. We should timelock this thread until 2011 LOL

skanknastys13
04-15-2009, 08:17 PM
have you seen the membership list? chipper jones, michael jenkins, patrick dempsey..
money is no object to these people, dropping 35k to use a track probably once a year

Wayne
04-15-2009, 09:52 PM
No no no people come on just because they have a long limit to build doesn't mean that they will take up all that time. They said that they plan to have the track complete within 6 months of approval. As for getting on the track you don't have to be a member theirs driving course that you can take and the is going to be a skid pad so there is going to be some sort of drifting involved. And I'm hopping that later down the road they will allow us S.C.C.A. and N.A.S.A. guys to get out there.

doctors and lawyers just like every other form of motorsports. My guess is they will rent the location out to other groups. Just like how Formula D rents Road Atlanta.

I have talked with the owner and promoter of the track, and seriously doubt there will be any drifting on this course. This place is being built more as a country club/race facility than a track which will be rented out and drifted on. I feel they have too many members that are paying the 30k for memberships to worry about getting the track torn up with some young kids doing drifting. Now FD or some other large drift event might be possible because the ticket sales would offset the wear put on the track.

But don't hold your breath for any local events to be held here. Think Barber, Autobahn Country Club, and Houston Motorsports Ranch. None of those facilities hold drift events because the Members of them voted that way.

I miss Motorsport Ranch. :( I was a member at the Cresson track, before they built the 2nd track/extension.

I am a doctor and I drift. I think if people would act right and not drive their cars like A-holes we would be OK. (To and from - not just at the track)
The Turner events have been well organized and fun. I don't see why it would be any different here.
just my 2 cents.

Barber doesn't allow drifting. Little Talladega doesn't allow drifting. Roebling doesn't allow drifting. Hell, even Ocala Gran Prix doesn't allow drifting anymore.

You want to pay the landscaping bill?

There are even some parking lots that won't allow it because it wears away the parking spot paint.

yea most places have a ill concieved notion of pavement being hurt but the landscaping is super true. a day of dirt drop and shits looks terrible.
