Brand isnt everything man, I've plugged up some no name speakers that really impressed me.

I've always been a big Infinity/Boston/Kenwood fan. I've hooked up a few sets of Kenwood components that were pretty good for the money.

I also bought a set of Powerbass components for my GSR, I put a set in a car at work one day, and when amped, they didnt sound bad, expecially when I got them at cost, haha.

---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ----------

On a sidenote, why would you want to run a 8" sub?

The smallest sub size that I can get, and price I'm doing everything on my 240 on a budget right now I just need suggestions but I'm trying to figure out what would be an efficent way to mount an 8" sub at first I was thinking of integrating them into the back of the s14/s15 seats, but I'm afraid if I'm listening to music it'll send vibrations through my spine while driving which for some reason I find quite annoying.

Simple and clean.

Memphis M-Class Speakers 6.5 (front and rear preferred)

Infinity Basslink Bolted to the back seat.

Simple, cheap, clean and doesn't weigh 200 lbs.

I'm really big on Infinity! Theyre great for door speakers. All of my cars have had complete infinity Kappa component sets in the doors as does my current car...

Fixed. Are all of you guys happy now? I have corrected Flip on something.

As for his post, same here. Kappa Perfect components and subs with Kappa amps.

I have just a few suggestions.
I hate speakers with the tweeter tower coming out of the woofer.
Avoid at all costs.
I recommend running bass blockers in anything that is not a sub woofer.
I'm sure there are speakers that sound good with bass, but for the most part, I also avoid that. Subs are mostly about the box. A small sub and a small box can still do impressive things.

Although I will say a friend sold me some 600 watt, 3 way, 6x9's with the tweeter tower coming out the woofer. Not good bass but they did have great mids and highs for cheap speakers. I just prefer to not have the tower.

infinity makes good products

alpine makes good products

rockford fosgate makes good products

just steer away from sony, and walmart pioneer stuff.

dual stuff is kinda junky.

and remember, a component will always sound better than an equivilant typical 2 way door speaker or whatever. costs more too.

if you want good stuff i would go with infinity components for the front and infinity normal speakers for the rears.

as far as sub goes... if you want a little more bass then go with one of thsoe all in one tuck away kits like those tube subs or whatever.

if you want hard pounding bass just talk to an audio expert at a local audio shop, ask them for advise. lol =D

ive had infinity kappa and loved them in my old ride. currently im running polks that i snagged at Circuit City for $85 (pair, new 6.5") and they haven't let me down.

if you're on a REALLY tight budget, you can always find cheap equipment at pawn shops and craigs list. i put together my current setup for about $350 (JL head unit, (2)6.5 polks, 12" alpine, 350watt rockford and wiring) im not going to win any style points for the system, but it gets the job done.

gotta be careful with used equip though. most of my componets were fine, but the 4x6's i bought were blown all to hell. but i only paid $15 for the pair, so not a big loss

honestly jl is really over rated, and i know some1 is gonna flame me about it, but hey if u wanna spend ur money on it go ahead, personaly jl is overrated just stay away form walmart brands, i personally am very pleased with memphis, audiobahn, kenwood, polk (i have either installed or owned all of those plus more)

I feel ya. Why not just run a single 10" at like, 100 or 200 watts?

I love my Alpine Type-R ten, when powered enough (I ran it at half power for a long time due to me being an idiot buying the wrong amp for a DVC sub)

They Type-E's are pretty good subs when ran at around $
170-250RMS, atleast, I really liked the Type-E I had in my old NX2K back in the day, and they're cheap as hell, and don't need alot of airspace.

Also, I've yet to use one but the RSX boys love them. Check out Elemental Designs subs. IIRC they make an 8" sub, and apparently they dont require shit for airspace, so making a shallow box for space is easy.

But you're in a hatch, so Im not sure why you're so worried about space, if anything, get a single 10", and build a nice box that fits into the sides of the hatch. Whenever I get the rest of my stuff, I'm building my own box for the trunk of the GSR. Just something clean to put my sub in the right passenge side of the trunk, with a finisher plate over it all that I can mount an amp on. Not really showworthy shit, but more for cleanliness and space as well.

Truth, Casey.

Never buy Sony Car audio, I have not, and will never buy Sony shit for my car. Some of the Explod subs hit nice, but, I just never have liked the quality of the headunits and whatnot.

As for Dual, its not the best shit and I've never liked the quality but if you need some cheap rear speakers, they aren't bad. I've used some Dual subs that hit pretty hard, I'll probably end up running a Dual amp with my Alpine sub in the Teg mainly cause of price, nto to mention, shit is warrantied, so I don't really worry.

Pioneer makes good head units, but, you can usually get a better Kenwood for the money of a middleroad Pioneer. I've always liked Kenwood headunits, some love them, some hate them, I've had one for 5 years that I keep around for randoms cars I trade, and its yet to really let me down.

Thanks Wes I'll definetly look into it. And in my honest opinion I like kenwood headunits I have one in my 626 right now and It works flawlessly.

How much of a system are you planning to run? I mean just an amp and sub? Or a 4channel for your doors and whatnot?

I'm picking up a MP638U for the Teg, just gotta trade my boss out of it.

So far for my Teg, I have my setup planned, its like $350 worth of stuff and some older stuff I just have around the house. Nothing baller really but it should have lots of bass and pretty good mids and highs for the money. And hell, if I dont like it all, I can just order better door speakers and whatnot.

Kenwood MP638
Kenwood 4 Channel for doors and rears (60Wx4 RMS)
Powerbass components for the front doors
Kenwood or Panasonic 6x9's for the rear
Dual Mono Amp (Mainly based on the cost. I'd rather buy the matching Kenwood just dont want to spend the extra money)
Alpine Type-R 10" in a custom box (Will be in a ported box I have layin around for now)

Like I said nothing baller but it should be an all around good sounding system.

I'm not as much of a fan of the newest facelift on the Kenwoods, but the models from the last year I love. Not to mention the direct USB Ipod control and all that.

I'm planning on running 4 speakers (2 with tweeters in the front) then one 8"/10" sub as of now I'd like to plan what I'd like to buy so that I can make the proper decision and I've been reading into reviews and alot of people seem to like memphis, alpine, kenwood and I might just stick with these brands. And I have 2 12" Dual Subs (1100 watt) and a 1000 watt amp from my previous car and they hit pretty hard but I'm probably not going to use them it's not my style. I tend to be discreet I don't want these huge ass subs to show and I don't want to show any of the speakers either I'd like to keep them hidden under the original speaker covers also I was thinking of mounting the amp under the passenger seat but I was told i would need some sort of way for them to be cooled. Also I don't have any idea what kind of amp I would actually need would I be able to use a 5 channel amp? or a 4 channel?

diamond Hex components
ARC audio discreet 4ch or alpine pdx 4or5 ch depending on if you get rear spkrs
eclipse deck or pioneer premier deck, alpine if thts ur thing
jl w6 8" woofer in a proper box with arc audio amp

memphis and JL are excellent brands if you have the money but diamond, arc and alpine make comparible products for far less.

my set up i installed in my hatch
Boston Z6 components
eclipse 3432 deck
RF t8004 4 ch (2x200wrms to comps 1x400rms to sub)

I have Alpine Type-Rs all around and I really like them.

Don't use anything from Sony. I've known more than a few people who had shitty Sony products. There's a reason they're called X-Plod... because they fucking explode.
