Blew My Subs!!

Hey guys, I blew my subs today :crying:. I was wondering if you guys know anyone that is selling Rockford Fosgate P3s 12'? They were my friends and he let me borrow them, and I need to get the same ones to give back.

Nope, I was borrowing them because the amp I required, needed subs that could handle it.

The song I played had to much bass in it and it blew. I dont have a cap in it so, im guessing the amp sent out to much power.

do you mean to say the amp you have needed better subs?

Ya Spencer, thats what I meant, but doesnt the cap keep the amp at a steady level?

Alright well you probably had the gain way to high on you amplifier thinking that it would make the subs louder, or you had them hooked up wrong and they shorted out. P3 12's can handle more than 1300 true watts... So something isn't right. But yeah I sell them all day long at Best Buy. $249.99 plus tax a piece, but they are on sale right now for $224.99. We have 7% sales tax in Cumming so that would be $240.74. Besides that I have no idea where you are going to find them. Good luck.

The Cap stores 12 volt power to power the amp not the power comming out of the amp:
Audio capacitors store that necessary power your amplifier will need to punch those big bass notes while limiting clipping (see definition at lower right). They store power during intervals when it is not required, which is most of the time, and release it when momentary peak demand exceeds what is available from the car's power system. Along with an adequate basic power supply, a stiffening capacitor for your amp is the simplest way to be sure your system always gets every bit of current it needs. From the smallest 0.5 farad, to the 3 farad model by Legacy (http://www.electronixwarehouse.com/car/accessories/capacitors.htm#legacy), there's a capacitor suitable for your installation. Mount them as close to the amplifier as possible, and choose at least .5 farad (500,000 microfarads) per 500 watts RMS of power output. You can use as many farads as you wish, but just the number indicated by the formula above is all that is necessary.

Its adjusted right, and the wiring is properly installed. I had them for 2 months with no problem. Its just one song had to much bass and it killed it. Since some songs have different frequency...but the P3s you have are the new generation, im looking for the 1st generation.

Im trying to find them less than $200, because my friend paid $180 for his with a box. So I know I can find them cheaper without a box..

i got some jl w3v2 10inch and i got some 15inch kicker cvrs both have boxes $150 each

how much power did you have going to them.. I blew a couple of l7 kickers because I underpowered them.. they can handle 750 rms but I only gave them 500 rms which heated up the coils and lead to the sub blowing.. keep that in mind for next time.. and good luck finding the subs...

I have the high end Rockford Fosgate 800watt amp. Im pretty sure I didnt under power them, but thanks. I been looking every where calling some friends too. So hopefully i'll find new ones or just get Alipine Type R's.
